••• Property Accountant ••• Pay Rate: $70,000-$85,000/year; Based on experience Location: Troy, NY (On-site) Experience Required: 5+ years of property or real estate accounting experience Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required Our client in Troy, NY, is seeking an experienced Property Accountant to manage the financial operations of a multi-property portfolio. This is a hands-on, high-visibility role reporting directly to the CFO, offering the opportunity to work closely with leadership while playing a critical role in financial oversight, reporting, and process improvement. This position is best suited for a seasoned accounting professional who is confident, proactive, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced real estate environment. Responsibilities of the Property Accountant will include: Manage the full financial accounting for multiple properties within an assigned portfolio Prepare monthly financial statements, bank reconciliations, and related supporting schedules Oversee cash management, cash flow analysis, and financial projections Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements Generate financial and operational reports to support property and executive management Lead and manage the annual budgeting process in collaboration with Property and Regional Managers Upload and manage budgets and financial data within property management and budgeting systems Analyze variances to budget and provide explanations to owners, executives, and management Prepare depreciation schedules and review asset activity Support new property acquisitions, developments, and transitions into accounting operations Provide guidance to Accounts Payable staff and support accounting interns as needed Assist with audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting Develop, document, and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls Identify process improvement opportunities and recommend efficiencies to leadership Prepare ad hoc reports related to cash flow, projections, and management requests Job Requirements Qualifications for the role of Property Accountant: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 5+ years of progressive property or real estate accounting experience required Experience within property management or real estate strongly preferred Familiarity with Entrata (formerly Yardi) a plus, but not required Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and related Office applications Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical skills Deadline-driven self-starter with strong initiative and organizational skills Professional demeanor with strong communication and interpersonal abilities Ability to work independently while collaborating with accounting, property, and executive teams About Us:redShift Recruiting is the region's premier recruiting agency with over 100 years of combined experience in the recruiting field.
