RMH Systems, one of the Midwest's largest material handling, packaging, robotics, and industrial scale distributors, is seeking a motivated Automation Controls Engineer. This is a level I position, requiring 1-2 years of PLC programming experience. Some travel required, up to 50%. RMH offers turnkey solutions to a diverse customer base. Job Title: Automation Controls Engineer I Location: Waukee, IA (Local Candidates Only) Job Type: Full-Time | On-Site Remote or relocation candidates will not be considered. The position involves an understanding of controls and automation solutions under supervision, focusing on gaining experience and understanding of automation principles. They will build good habits through repetition and curiosity. Our teams find opportunities to consult, design, and implement across all types of manufacturing. Primary Duties & Responsibilities:Assist in implementation of advanced robot and PLC automation systems. Assist with project documentation, programming, and process. Assist with continuous improvement of product and process. Follow established best practices in documentation, risk management and testing. Follow best practices for service engagements, and work with billing team to ensure they are invoiced in a timely manner. Support the team for run-offs. Document technical issues encountered during programming and commissioning in an organized format and learn the "why" and "how". Assist with integration of equipment systems per customer specifications. Collaborate with engineers and technicians to execute project tasks. Provide onsite installation support and start up/Commissioning services on the job site. Troubleshoot limited automation issues and document problems and resolutions. When working onsite, complete daily work logs documenting what you did today, what is the goal for tomorrow, and what is needed and when. Travel up to 50% of the time Requirements for the position:Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent technical school plus experience 1-2 years PLC programming capability preferred. (Studio 5000, RS Logix 500) Familiar with PLC, HMI (hardware and software) a must. Familiar with Fanuc Robots preferred. Some Experience with Allen Bradley PLC and HMI Programming (FactoryTalk View, plus if you know Ignition) Experience with AutoCAD or AutoCAD electrical a plus Safety oriented attitude required Strong communication skills Customer service orientation Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally.
