Job Description

A school-based Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) plays a vital role in supporting students' communication skills to help them fully engage with their education and social environments. This travel assignment is located in Terryville, CT, and focuses on providing speech and language services in a school setting from preschool through high school. Key Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive evaluations including speech, language, voice, and fluency assessments. Screen students to identify communication disorders and interpret results to determine eligibility for services under IDEA. Develop, implement, and adjust Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs. Provide direct therapy targeting articulation, expressive/receptive language, social communication, fluency, and voice disorders. Deliver indirect services such as classroom consultation and collaboration with educators and specialists. Collaborate extensively with multidisciplinary teams including teachers, occupational therapists, psychologists, and families to optimize student support. Maintain detailed documentation of evaluations, therapy sessions, progress notes, and prepare reports for IEP meetings. Ensure compliance with all relevant federal and state regulations. Participate in early intervention and prevention programs and educate staff and families on communication development. Recommend and support assistive technology tools like AAC devices, including training for students and staff. Qualifications and Experience: Valid SLP certification with CCC (Certificate of Clinical Competence) preferred. Experience working with school-aged children across a variety of communication disorders. Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams. Familiarity with IDEA regulations and school-based therapy requirements. Ability to manage a diverse caseload including preschool through high school students.
