Job Type Full-time Description The Humane Society for Southwest Washington is currently seeking a Facilities Technician II to join our team. This is a full-time, FLSA nonexempt opportunity. Since 1897, the Humane Society for Southwest Washington (HSSW) has been caring for the animals of Southwest Washington. Today, we are the largest animal welfare agency in Southwest Washington with campuses in Vancouver and Longview, where we help thousands of adoptable pets find shelter, TLC, and loving homes. And through programs like free pet food, emergency shelter, financial assistance, and medical care, we provide critical support that helps pets in need stay home with the families they love. Facilities Technician II Under the general supervision of the Facilities Manager, the Facilities Technician II performs a wide range of maintenance tasks related to electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, and custodial work to ensure the safe and efficient operation of HSSW facilities, grounds, and equipment. This position also provides guidance and training to staff, volunteers, and workforce partners. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Train and coach staff, volunteers, and workforce partners on proper maintenance procedures. Complete assigned maintenance work orders promptly and accurately. Perform preventative maintenance tasks in a timely fashion when assigned. Troubleshoot and repair electrical components such as lights, outlets, switches, plugs, ballasts, and fuses. Perform basic plumbing tasks including unclogging drains and servicing fixtures. Conduct carpentry repairs and assist with construction projects as needed. Perform basic patching, drywall repair, and painting. Operate and maintain company vehicles, hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment (e.g., backhoe, lawn mowers, chainsaw, trencher, etc.). Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and equipment; order materials and coordinate contractor services as needed. Perform locksmith tasks such as installing and repairing locks, hinges, and door closers. Maintain functionality of doors, windows, and irrigation systems. Service and maintenance of vehicles and lawn equipment. Load, unload, and move furniture, supplies, and equipment. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing duties. Respond to emergency maintenance calls on a 24-hour basis as needed, including weekend or overtime work. Follow all safety policies per HSSW, OSHA, and L&I regulations. Assist with custodial duties and facility upkeep as needed. Serve on committees and support cross-department collaboration. Required to travel to the Community Veterinary Clinic, ReTails Thrift Store, Longview Campus, and other offsite locations. Required Qualifications and Skills Minimum of 5 years' experience in general maintenance, facilities operations, and custodial work. Experience with a variety of hand and power tools, equipment, and systems. Proficient with Microsoft Office and computer-based work order systems. Valid driver's license and insurable driving record in accordance with HSSW policy. Certification to drive company vehicles (including forklift) within 6 months of hire. Minimum 2 years of blueprint reading and basic construction experience. 2+ years of electrical and plumbing troubleshooting and repair. 2+ years of experience supervising and training teams or work crews. 3+ years of experience managing contractors and vendors. Working knowledge of HVAC systems and OSHA, L&I, and insurance safety standards. General Expectations Communicate professionally with staff, volunteers, and the public. Represent HSSW with integrity and accountability. Compensation The hourly pay range for this position is $25.24 to $30.72 per hour with starting pay dependent upon experience.
