Job Summary (Bullet/ List Format): - Position: Respiratory Therapist - Facility: Vail Hospital - Assignment Length: 13 weeks - Shift/Schedule: Nights (11pm-7:30am), 3x12s, Guaranteed 32 hours/week - Start Date: ASAP Key Responsibilities: - Provide direct patient care on patient care floors and participate in daily operational activities. - Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards. - Train, educate, and coordinate education for current and new staff in the Respiratory Service Area. - Maintain collaborative communication with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare team members. - After competency validation, perform diagnostic cardiology and respiratory procedures (EKG, Holter monitor, EEG, Pulmonary Function Testing, Peak Flows, Pulse Oximetry, stress tests, etc.). - Draw and analyze Arterial Blood Gasses, maintain and troubleshoot analyzer, and act as resource for interpretation per regulations. - Attend Trauma, Code Blue, and Rapid Response emergencies; assist with airway management. - Provide and receive feedback for ongoing performance improvement. - Identify and resolve clinical and interdepartmental problems/conflicts. - Serve as a role model for Just Culture and Vail Health values. - Perform additional duties as assigned; maintain HIPAA compliance. Minimum Qualifications: - Minimum 2 years' acute care hospital experience (Joint Commission accredited). - Experience with neonatal and pediatric critical care preferred. - Must possess or obtain Colorado Respiratory Therapist license. - Required certifications: Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC), BLS (AHA), ACLS, NRP, PALS. - Computer proficiency and ability to complete online job-related requirements within 90 days. - Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking). Physical Demands: - Sitting (20%), standing (30%), walking (20%), squatting/bending/twisting/lifting/reaching above shoulder (5-10% each). - Frequent lifting up to 20 lbs; occasional lifting up to 35 lbs. - Exposure to healthcare environment hazards (e.g., radiation, chemicals, biological hazards, noise, stress). Patient Populations: - Care for all age groups: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, middle-aged, geriatric. Other: - Must demonstrate strong communication, teamwork, and stress management skills. - Must maintain all required licensure/certifications throughout employment. - Patient care role requiring promptness and reliability.
