MAINTENANCE WORKER III - Portland Downtown District Department of Public Works Up to $2,500 Sign on Bonus Available for an external applicant. Job Summary: The Department of Public Works is seeking a candidate to perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance work in the downtown area of Portland. Daily responsibilities will include operating a variety of equipment in the operation, and repair and maintenance of City property. During the winter months, these duties will include participating in snow removal operations as required. Duties & Responsibilities: Performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled maintenance and minor repair work Complete a variety of maintenance functions and minor repairs Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors, and the public Required Skills & Experience: High School diploma or equivalent combination of experience and training is required. Must possess valid Class B license and maintain good driving record Demonstrated ability to properly and safely perform a thorough circle check and routine maintenance on a variety of equipment Must have and demonstrate good customer service and communication skills, with the ability to follow oral and written directions Must have a working knowledge of tools, equipment, materials, and the methods and skills used in a variety of maintenance functions and minor repairs Special Requirements: Must meet the requirements of a pre placement physical exam and fitness assessment Must successfully complete a 10-hour OSHA course approved by the City Safety Coordinator Must pass a federally mandated drug test Expected Hours/Schedule: This is a 40 hour position working Monday - Friday, 6am-2pm. Salary & Benefits: This is a union position, Labor & Trades Grade 18 CDL, with a salary range starting at $26.78/hr.
