Metal Extrusion and Plate Machine Operator Pay Rate: $19- $25/hour DOE Location: Humble, TX 77396 Shifts: 12 hour shifts / Day & Night Shifts available Job Description: The Extrusion Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining extrusion machinery ensuring high-quality production. This role involves monitoring the extrusion process, adjusting settings, ensuring product specifications are met, and conducting routine maintenance tasks. The Extrusion Machine Operator plays a critical role in maintaining production efficiency, quality standards, and overall safety within the manufacturing facility. Responsibilities: Machine Operation & Setup: Set up and run hydraulic extrusion presses, rollers, or bending machinery to create, shape, or reduce metal products. Operate extrusion machines to produce metal products according to established standards and guidelines Set up and prepare extrusion machinery for operation by loading raw materials and adjusting equipment settings based on product specifications Production Monitoring: Adjust controls to regulate temperatures, vacuum, and speed to meet specifications. Monitor the extrusion process closely, making real-time adjustments to equipment settings to maintain product quality and output efficiency Quality Control: Measure finished products (thickness, diameter, length) using calipers or gauges to ensure they meet quality standards. Conduct regular quality checks on products being produced to ensure they meet required specifications and standards Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform daily checks, clean equipment, lubricate parts, and troubleshoot malfunctions to minimize downtime. Troubleshoot and resolve minor operational issues or malfunctions that may arise during the production process to minimize downtime Perform routine maintenance tasks on extrusion machinery, such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn or damaged parts, to ensure optimal performance and longevity of equipment Maintain accurate production records, including product counts, machine settings, and maintenance activities, to track productivity and identify opportunities for improvement Material Handling: Load, unload, and manage raw materials for production. Collaborate with the production team to coordinate material supply and ensure a steady flow of raw materials to the extrusion machines Safety Compliance: Adhere to all OSHA and company safety standards, wearing proper PPE Comply with all safety guidelines and protocols to create a safe working environment and minimize workplace hazards Assist in training new team members on the operation and maintenance of extrusion equipment Qualifications and Skills Education: High school diploma or GED required; additional technical training or certifications in machine operation and maintenance is a plus Experience: Previous experience in manufacturing, metal fabrication, or operating industrial machinery (e.g., extrusion machine, press brake, roll former or related role) is preferred Technical Skills: Ability to read blueprints, diagrams, and job orders. Proficiency with measuring tools. Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to understand and operate complex machinery Physical Strength: Ability to lift heavy materials and stand for long periods. Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and perform physical tasks associated with the role Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities and communication skills for team collaboration. Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with other team members and supervisors Work Environment Manufacturing factory setting with significant noise and heat, requiring strict adherence to safety protocols Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $19.00 - $25.00 Per Hour
