Shipping and Receiving SupervisorSummary/Objective: The primary role of the shipping and receiving supervisor is ensuring the safe and efficient transport of some raw materials and all finished goods while keeping internal and external customers appraised of deliveries in a timely and courteous manner. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Keeps up to date with production status of all products and components through attendance at production meetings, monitoring of shift reports and production schedules. Plans day to day allocations of loaders to efficiently, safely, and cost effectively achieve performance targets as agreed upon with Production Management. Schedules and documents incoming and outgoing loads working closely with all distribution centers, Corporate Logistics, and transportation companies to ensure the time and cost-effective movement of goods. Documents daily shipping and receiving activities accurately and reviews results against established targets and report variances. Reviews the daily shipping log out of SAP to ensure accuracy. Aims to have all SAP transactions complete within 24 hours of shipping. Works closely with customer service to ensure all loads, deliveries, and freight costs have been communicated to the customer so the customer is aware of price and order updates. Is responsible for accuracy of all shipping documentation and paperwork for carriers, drivers, customers and customs. Keeps carriers appraised of all loads to ensure efficient and accurate loading. Aims to level load the number of loads throughout the week and month in so much as possible given production restrictions. Frequently maintains and updates the backlog report and the FG report to ensure that system is accurate to reality. Emails customer service representatives and accounting (A/P and A/R) freight rates as soon as they are received. Ensures that customers receiving goods are not on credit block through liaison with Finance, Credit and Customer Service. Performs general housekeeping, maintenance and organization of the dock and inventory areas; includes hands-on cleaning and maintenance along with organization and interpersonal skills to coordinate with other department and outside waste disposal vendor. Is responsible for the clean and safe housekeeping of the yard and all other outdoor areas inside the fence line. Is an integral part of the plant team for problem solving, complaint resolution and other continuous improvement projects as required. Ensure focused improvement tools are effectively utilized to address root causes of failures and support continuous improvement initiatives. Provides Work Direction to Loaders and manages the pace and quality of their work. Ensure loaders are taking pictures of all outbound loads using the tools provided. Scans signed bills of ladings to required location upon receiving. Organizes and files all paperwork for all receipts and all shipments; this includes bills of lading as well as any other documentation used by the shipping and receiving coordinator in order to complete the aforementioned shipping documentation. In conjunction with plant management, purchasing and finance work to find the most cost effective solutions for our transport needs. Follow the Group Code of Conduct and Group Compliance. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., 40 hours per week. Overtime may be needed as required, especially towards busy periods at month end, including Saturdays. Required Education and Experience High school diploma. At least 3-5 years in manufacturing environment specifically in shipping and receiving. Preferred Education and Experience Experience with relevant software applications. Forklift experience.
