Description SUMMARY OF POSITION The Career Services Manager is responsible for overseeing both career and employment services and programs, ensuring effective service delivery. The manager leads a team of Career Service professionals to plan, develop, and administer career and employment assistance programs for the Coastal Bend. The manager is expected to be courteous and professional while upholding the core Goodwill values of Empowerment, Public Trust, Respect, Innovation, Quality, and Safety. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Program Management Provide leadership and direction by managing all aspects of career services to drive employment opportunities for job seekers in the Coastal Bend and northern region of Goodwill South Texas. Develop and implement programs and workshops on resume building, interview skills, and employer-specific competencies. Work closely with the Learning & Development team to align candidate readiness with current job openings. Ensure the success of all pre-admissions and admission activities. Provide resources for participants and employees that are appropriate and accessible. Operations Establish, develop, and maintain work relationships with local and regional employers, non-profits, government organizations and community partners to identify and expand employment opportunities. Attend industry-related networking events to build potential opportunities. Monitor and assess the effectiveness of programs and services; make recommendations for improvement. Meet or exceed established benchmarks for placement rates by ensuring policies and procedures are followed, and that job development activities are maintained. Complete, compile and disseminate accurate and timely reports to support strategic planning and maintain transparency across programs. Leadership Foster a positive work environment that promotes quality customer service. Hire, train, mentor, and appraise staff. Assist with establishing goals and providing necessary resources and support for successful outcomes. Develop and update training materials and internal workshops to enhance team effectiveness and skill sets. Provide staff with consistent opportunities for professional growth and development. Administrative Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and practices to ensure staff skills and program quality remain current. Comply with all department and agency policies, procedures, and regulations. Adhere to and enforce safety and loss prevention procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree and three (3) years' experience in career development or employment services. Possess a valid Driver License with a clean driving record. Reliable transportation with the ability to travel within the region when necessary. Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug/alcohol screen. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES Strong business acumen; experience with budget management and strategic planning. Ability to leverage learning platforms and tools to create engaging, scalable learning experiences. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other essential business software. Demonstrate strong leadership, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills with a commitment to exceptional customer service. Exhibits a high level of initiative, accountability, and sound judgment. Able to effectively communicate with individuals with different lifestyles, genders, personal beliefs, and abilities. Ability to adjust to changing priorities, including occasional evening and weekend work. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in business, workforce development, or related field. Strong familiarity with the local job market and culture. Knowledge of local service organizations and other community resources.
