As our next Intern, you'll get unfiltered access to the inner workings of the City of Portland. You'll be on the front lines of transportation innovation-inspecting sites, reviewing technical specs, and solving real-world engineering puzzles. If you're looking for significant responsibility and a fast-track to becoming an industry professional, this is where you start. Duties & Responsibilities: Provide hands-on, significant exposure to urban transportation infrastructure projects. Work on Transportation Projects, including large paving projects, sidewalk and ADA construction, and signal work. Review plans, specifications, cost estimates, and quantities. Direct, monitor, and carry out day-to-day site construction inspection activities under supervision. Additional tasks may include field data collection, measurements, traffic counts, and GIS work as needed. Required Skills & Experience: Current college student at a sophomore level or higher, or current graduate. Some construction and/or engineering experience is preferred. Strong communication and teamwork skills required. Passion for construction and infrastructure projects is a plus. Ability to alternate frequently between being in a stationary position and traversing terrain in varied climates. Ability to frequently move objects such as boxes weighing up to 40 pounds for field work. Rate of Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour for 37.5 hours per week (depends on level of experience). Some overtime will be required and will be compensated. Duration of Internship: 12 weeks to 1 year; end date flexible based on availability of applicant. Schedule: Monday thru Friday, 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, half hour lunch (start and end times may fluctuate depending on workloads and assigned tasks).
