Job Title: Forklift Operator (Logistics Warehouse - Overnight) Company: AMMON Staffing Location: Plaquemine, LA Pay: $16.00 per hour Job Overview AMMON Staffing is hiring experienced Forklift Operators for a large, fast-paced logistics warehouse facility supporting petrochemical plant operations in the Plaquemine area. This role is 100% warehouse and logistics focused-moving packaged materials, staging orders, and safely loading/unloading 18-wheeler trailers from the dock. The ideal candidate has recent forklift experience in a logistics or distribution warehouse, is comfortable with 12-hour overnight shifts, and is looking for steady work with overtime opportunities. Job DetailsJob ID: 27675 Pay Frequency: Hourly Job Type: Temp-to-Hire (W-2 through AMMON Staffing) Work Setting: On-Site (Not Remote) Department/Industry: Warehouse/Logistics (Petrochemical Support) Schedule: Monday-Friday (unless otherwise stated) Shift: Overnight | 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM Overtime: Yes Benefits: Weekly Pay; Health Benefits Available Screening Requirements: Drug Screen; Background Check Experience Required: 3+ years (forklift in logistics/distribution/warehouse) Start: Immediate Opening (Start ASAP) Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs; stand/walk for extended periods; work around industrial machinery and truck traffic Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral / WarehouseSafely operate sit-down forklifts and other warehouse equipment Perform and document daily forklift inspections before use Move pallets, totes, and packaged product throughout the warehouse and dock area Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment (housekeeping, spill control, clear aisles) Follow facility safety rules, PPE requirements, and supervisor instructions Packaging Forklift Operator DutiesEnsure the forklift is in safe working condition at the start of each shift Work closely with production/packaging teams to ensure correct packaging supplies are available at the line Transport finished packaged material from production lines to designated warehouse locations Verify labels, package markings, and pallet tags match customer/order requirements Inspect pallets for damage and ensure product is stacked safely and securely Communicate quantities and storage locations to the crew leader and/or supervisor Assist with general warehouse tasks including organizing inventory and supporting the team as needed Shipping Forklift Operator DutiesComplete daily forklift inspection checklists and required logs Receive and review pick tickets from the Traffic/Shipping Coordinator Pull product from storage locations and verify correct product/lot numbers, quantities, and labels/paperwork Load and unload 18-wheeler trailers and containers safely and efficiently from the dock Follow special loading instructions (weight distribution, sequence, segregation) Inspect trailers prior to loading for cleanliness, safety, and suitability Assist with repacking, relabeling, or reclassification of product as directed Support the Shipping Lead, Terminal Manager, or Warehouse Supervisor with other duties as assigned Requirements Minimum 3 years of forklift operating experience in a logistics, distribution, or warehouse environment (not just yard or construction) Proven experience loading and unloading 18-wheeler trailers at a dock Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including some weekends and overtime as needed Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly Ability to read, speak, and write basic English to follow written procedures, labels, and safety instructions Comfortable working around large industrial machinery and truck traffic Strong safety mindset and willingness to follow facility and OSHA safety rules Strong attention to detail and accuracy with labels and paperwork Team-oriented attitude with reliability and good communication skills Reliable transportation for daily commute (including crossing the Mississippi River Bridge for Baton Rouge residents) Must pass a drug screen and background check What This Opportunity Offers Steady, full-time hours in a 24/7 logistics operation Lots of overtime available for candidates who want to maximize their paycheck Hands-on, fast-paced work environment Opportunity to build long-term experience in petrochemical logistics support Note: If you are commuting from Baton Rouge, reliable transportation capable of crossing the Mississippi River Bridge daily is required.
