Job Overview A position within the Agriculture, Arts, and Education Department that reports to the Agricultural Programs Supervisor, the Farm 2 U Assistant Coordinator assists in the management of a dynamic and educational exhibit to be installed during the San Diego County Fair, overseeing its assembly, maintenance, programming, and customer service functions. Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following: • Assists both Farm 2 U Coordinators in executing exhibit plans, timelines, and operational goals. • Supports coordination of stage demonstrations, culinary presentations, educational programming, and vendor participation. • Assists with outreach communications to presenters, demonstrators, agricultural experts, vendors, and competition participants. • Provides logistical support for set-up, maintenance, and tear-down of the Farm 2 U Stage, culinary kitchen, vendor booths, educational displays, and competition areas. • Assists with inventory management, supply ordering and purchasing, storage organization, and equipment tracking. • Supports acquisition and preparation of materials for demonstrations, tastings, educational activities, and competitions. • Assists in coordinating Agricultural Competitions housed within the exhibit, including entry intake, display setup, and judging support. • Helps maintain cleanliness, organization, and readiness of the stage, kitchen, educational areas, and surrounding exhibit spaces. • Interacts professionally with vendors, presenters, demonstrators, judges, staff, volunteers, and fairgoers to ensure a positive experience. • Responds to verbal and written questions in a timely, knowledgeable, and courteous manner. • Assists with staff and volunteer coordination, including supporting scheduling, task delegation, and daily operational needs during the Fair. • Practices and promotes safe work methods and ensures proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). • Uses Microsoft 365 tools such as OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, and Excel to maintain organized digital records. • Willingness to obtain proper food safety certifications if required. • Performs other related duties as assigned Qualifications • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work cooperatively with team members. • Previous experience with culinary, food, wine, and/or agricultural organizations not required, but preferred. • Strong organizational and communication skills. • Ability to work in and direct staff/volunteers in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 tools and/or ability to learn applications quickly. Working Conditions • Seasonal, part-time schedule starting in October through Mid-July. • Work is mainly indoors, some outdoors. • Work in a lively environment with loud noises and large groups of people. • Work may involve exposure to weather conditions including fluctuating temperatures. • Work will include standing and walking on concrete floors and exposure to dust and dirt. • Work will include lifting objects up to 50 pounds and moving heavy objects. • Schedule includes nights, weekends, and holidays when necessary
