This is accomplished by planning and organizing jobs; overseeing maintenance and repairs; coordinating projects between departments; and maintaining records of work performed. Other duties include training and enforcing safety regulations. Specific Duties and ResponsibilitiesWorks as lead for a unit or group by assigning work unit tasks; scheduling equipment and services; overseeing the maintenance and repair of equipment; ensuring all safety practices are followed; and resolving unexpected problems; Schedules and assigns activities by reviewing and scheduling priorities; reviewing, recording, and filing work orders; and referring jobs for contract work; Strives for safe work environment by scheduling and attending training; scheduling safety meetings; ensuring safety equipment and risk practices are followed; and filing claims as they occur; Maintains records by entering work information; recording maintenance activities; and tracking job costs; and Performs other assigned duties. QualificationsAssociate's degree; Four (4) years of related work experience on a crew in construction or maintenance of water and wastewater systems; Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; and Texas Class A or Class B driver's license with good driving record and ability to maintain while employed; Possession of TCEQ-issued Class C Water Distribution Certificate or higher; Possession of TCEQ-issued Class II Wastewater Collection Certificate or higher. Texas Municipal Retirement System Employees participate in a statewide retirement program at 7% contribution with a city match of 2:1. Five years vesting, 20 years retirement at any age. Vacation Non-civil service employees accrue 6.67 hours per month (2 weeks per year). All police employees accrue 10 hours per month (3 weeks per year). All Fire employees accrue 15 hours per month (7.5 - 24 hour shifts a year). Sick Leave Non-civil service employees accrue 10 hours per month (3 weeks per year). Holidays Non-civil service employees receive 13 paid holidays per year including one personal or "floating" day. Longevity Pay Earned at a rate of $4 per month. This is calculated on number of years of service up to and including 25 years (maximum $1200). Worker's Compensation Worker's compensation coverage is provided for all employees. Fire/Police Eligible for Education/Certification pay. Deferred Compensation Plans- Mass Mutual/Empower Payroll deduction for employee participation.
