LabVIEW Controls / Automation Engineer About Cincinnati Test Systems Cincinnati Test Systems (CTS) is a global leader in advanced leak test instrumentation and custom automated test systems. Our solutions deliver fast, reliable, and repeatable results across demanding production environments including Automotive, Medical, Energy, Consumer Goods, and Industrial markets. CTS is seeking a LabVIEW Controls / Automation Engineer to design, develop, and support LabVIEW-based automated test systems used in custom production machinery. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys hands-on development, complex problem-solving, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver robust, production-ready automation solutions. Position Summary The LabVIEW Engineer will be responsible for developing, integrating, and supporting LabVIEW software for custom automated test and measurement systems. This role works closely with controls, mechanical, and project engineering teams to deliver complete automation systems from initial concept through customer acceptance. What You'll Do LabVIEW Development & System Integration Develop LabVIEW applications for automated test and leak detection systems Modify, optimize and maintain existing LabVIEW software platforms Implement data acquisition, instrument communication, and device control logic Integrate NI hardware platforms (DAQ, PXI, cRIO) and third-party instrumentation Support system-level coordination between LabVIEW, PLCs, motion systems, and safety hardware Develop user interfaces, diagnostic tools, and data management features System Debug, Testing & Commissioning Participate in machine build/debug and cross-functional troubleshooting Diagnose and resolve electrical, software, and integration issues Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) Assist with Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and customer commissioning (as required) Perform verification, validation, and performance tuning Documentation & Project Support Interpret customer specifications, functional requirements, and test protocols Create or contribute to software design documents, test plans, and system diagrams Maintain code documentation, revision control, and engineering change practices Support quoting efforts with technical input when needed Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with electrical, mechanical, and controls engineering teams Support integration of sensors, pneumatics, motion systems, vision systems, and safety circuits Communicate effectively with internal teams and customers during project execution Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field 3-6 years of experience developing automated test systems or controls for production machinery Strong proficiency in National Instruments (NI) LabVIEW Experience with: Data acquisition and instrument communication Hardware integration (NI DAQ, PXI, cRIO, or similar) Troubleshooting electrical and automation systems Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and understand machine I/O Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills Willingness to travel for system commissioning and customer support (as required) Preferred Qualifications NI Certification (CLAD, CLD) or willingness to obtain Experience integrating LabVIEW with PLC systems (Allen-Bradley preferred) Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Serial, TCP/IP) Experience with SQL or production data logging systems Working knowledge of version control (Git, SVN, or similar) Experience in automotive, medical device, or other high-volume manufacturing environments Why Join CTS Work on high-impact, custom automation projects Hands-on involvement through the full lifecycle: design → build → debug → deployment Exposure to advanced leak test and precision measurement technologies Opportunities for technical growth and advancement into senior technical roles Collaborative and engineering-focused culture with a direct impact on manufacturing performance
