Job Description Join Our Team as a Physician Assistant - Cardiovascular & Cardiothoracic Surgery Are you a skilled Physician Assistant passionate about saving lives and making a difference in cardiac care? We are seeking a dedicated and experienced PA to support our Cardiovascular and Cardiothoracic Surgery team. This full-time locum position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic hospital setting, providing exceptional patient care and surgical support. Be instrumental in complex procedures, rounding, and clinic management-all in one streamlined daily schedule. Play a vital role in a collaborative environment that values your expertise and commitment. Key Responsibilities: Assist in surgical procedures, including OR assistance, vein harvesting, and support for ECMO, IABP, and Impella devices. Conduct patient rounds in ICU/step-down units. Manage clinic visits and patient follow-ups. Interpret EKGs, X-rays, labs, and other diagnostic data. Participate in on-call rotations with a 1:2 schedule, including weekday and weekend call duties. Uphold high standards of patient safety and care quality. Required Skills and Qualifications: Current licensure as a Physician Assistant in California. Active CA license and CA DEA registration. Ability to perform vein harvesting and interpret diagnostic tests. Experience with ECMO, IABP, and Impella support devices. Competence in ICU and step-down patient management. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Flexibility to work 3-4 days per week with availability from 7 am to 3 pm, Monday through Friday. Nice to Have Skills: 3-5 years of relevant surgical and critical care experience. Prior experience assisting in complex cardiovascular or thoracic surgeries. Additional certifications in advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS) or critical care. Preferred Education and Experience: Certified Physician Assistant with at least 3 years of professional experience in cardiothoracic or vascular surgery settings. Proven ability to work independently and efficiently in high-pressure environments. Other Requirements: Capable of a flexible schedule with at least 3-4 days available weekly. Be prepared for on-call duties, including nights and weekends, approximately 1-2 times per month. May require travel expenses and licensure renewals when applicable.
