Position Type: Secretarial/Clerical/Payroll Date Posted: 3/2/2026 Location: Bethel Local Schools Closing Date: 03/17/2026 District: Bethel Local Schools Bethel Local School District Job Posting - Fiscal Office Specialist (Payroll & Benefits) Treasurer's Department Posting Dates: March 3, 2026 - March 17, 2026 Work Year: 260 Days Reports To: Treasurer/CFO or Assistant Treasurer Position Summary Bethel Local School District is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Fiscal Office Specialist to manage payroll and employee benefits processing. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll, maintaining benefit records, supporting compliance with state and federal regulations, and providing excellent customer service to district staff. A high level of confidentiality, accuracy, and professionalism is required. Essential Functions Process biweekly and supplemental payroll in accordance with district calendars, collective bargaining agreements, and applicable laws Maintain payroll records including salary schedules, deductions, leave balances, and contract data Process and reconcile STRS and SERS reporting and payments Administer employee benefits including health, dental, vision, life, and voluntary plans Coordinate new hire enrollment, benefit changes, open enrollment, and terminations Reconcile benefit invoices and payroll deductions Ensure compliance with FLSA, ACA, Ohio Revised Code, and payroll tax regulations Prepare payroll reports, year-end processing (including W-2s), and audit documentation Serve as a point of contact for employee payroll and benefits inquiries Maintain accurate and confidential records in accordance with district policies Cross-train in other fiscal functions and assist with Treasurer's Department duties as assigned Qualifications High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or related field preferred Payroll processing experience required; school district or public sector experience preferred Knowledge of STRS, SERS, and Ohio school payroll reporting preferred Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Workspace and financial software systems Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality Application Process Interested candidates should submit a completed district application, resume and cover letter.
