Position Type: Student Support Services/Speech and Language Pathologist Date Posted: 3/2/2026 Location: Child Study Team TITLE: SPEECH LANGUAGE SPECIALISTREPORTS TO: Principal and Coordinator of Special Education QUALIFICATIONS: Valid New Jersey Educational Services Certificate and Speech-Language Specialist Endorsement. A Master's Degree from an accredited college or university. Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of speech-language pathology. Ability to effectively apply the principles of assessment, treatment, and prevention of speech, language, and hearing disorders. Required: Criminal and employment history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status. JOB GOAL: Work on a multidisciplinary Child Study Team to identify at-risk students for participation in special education programs. In addition, helps to reduce or eliminate speech problems that interfere with a student's ability to learn. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide diagnostic evaluations of pupils referred to the Child Study Team. Participates in Child Study Team conferences to review findings. Plans, prepares, and delivers treatment programs for children with speech and language deficiencies. Develops and implements individualized educational programs (IEP) for eligible pupils for speech/language services. Provides individual and small group speech sessions. Acts as a liaison with the Child Study Team and serves as a case manager as assigned. Keeps necessary records for each child and completes all required local, state, and federal reports. Participates in the development of appropriate experiences for staff and parents. Conducts ongoing evaluations of all children in the program to determine their continued eligibility. Acts as an educational consultant to classroom teachers, guidance counselors, and administrators as required. Assist in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community. Responsible for the requisitioning and maintaining of speech/language equipment and supplies. Maintains professional competence through in-service education and other professional growth activities. Assumes other related duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Special Education or his/her designee. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be determined by the Board of Education. EVALUATION: The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with state law and provisions of the board's policy on the evaluation of certified staff.
