At Merrimack Health, we are committed to pay transparency and equity. The base salary range is $16.18 - $24.27, excluding fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Your final base salary will be determined based on your education, experience, licensure, and internal equity considerations. Offers are typically made below the top of the range to support future salary growth. Position Summary: Unit Secretary Coordinator - Med/Surg H2, Full-time 40 Hours per Week Days 7 am to 3 pm. Lawrence campus The Unit Secretary Coordinator provides secretarial and clerical support for the nursing unit. Provides payroll support and maintains inventory of supplies and equipment as needed. Ensures effective and efficient operation of the nursing unit. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Maintains stock levels of all forms and office supplies on the unit. Orders supplies from internal and external sources; tracks orders and deliveries to the unit. • Performs payroll duties as assigned; enters schedule information into appropriate scheduling system. • Performs weekly rounding on all equipment on the unit and utilizes equipment checklist to ensure equipment is present, working and ready for use. Follow up on equipment repairs as necessary. • Maintains filing system for staffing sheets, schedule sheets and other forms and documents used on the unit as needed. • Maintains a readiness for downtime procedures at all times, including preparation of documents and/or charts. • Audits unit secretary processes to ensure standards are met. • Contributes to the development of orientation material for onboarding new Unit Secretaries and others performing clerical duties. • Answers telephone on the unit in a respectful and professional manner. Relays messages to appropriate parties in a timely manner. • Schedules appointments for procedures and tests, obtains results, and files results in patient charts. • Arranges for consults with MDs. • Assists in patient discharge including arranging patient transport as needed and assigns room for cleaning. • Prepares patient charts for admission and disassembles charts for discharge records information according to Health Information System standards. • Transports specimens to the lab. • Maintains a clean and secure environment to ensure efficient and safe operation of the nursing unit. • Functions as an active member of the health care team on the unit. EDUCATION AND RELATED EXPERIENCEMinimum Requirements: • High school diploma or equivalent • 2+ years' experience performing clerical duties in an office or health-care related environment • Knowledge of health care terminology • Must have outstanding customer service attitude and demonstrate a commitment to professional behavior Preferred: • Prior experience with payroll process, inventory control and supplies ordering • Strong computer skills and ability to learn multiple health care-related computer systems
