Substitute School Nurse

Position Title: Substitute School Nurse Department: Alma School District Reports To: Head School District Nurse/Building Principal Salary: $135.00 a Day LPN/$150.00 a Day RNESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL SET Provide nursing care to students Administer medications and nursing care procedures as prescribed by the student's physician Communicate with building administrators, teachers and parents regarding any injuries sustained at school Provide first aid and assessment of injuries, notifying parents concerning anything that leaves a mark Assess students for illness, reporting fever of 100.4 or above and inform guardians of the district's 24 hour fever free policy Follow procedures for reporting child abuse and neglect as a mandated reporter Chronic illness management (diabetics, asthmatic's, B/P's etc.) QUALIFICATIONS Punctual and regular attendance Accept supervision and suggestions Ability to maintain good relationships with peers and co-workers that are characterized by mutual support, respect, and cooperation Maintain a positive attitude toward students and a cooperative attitude with staff Ability to professionally communicate with students, staff, parents, and community Maintain confidentiality pertaining to students and staff Ability to use good judgement in making decisions Skillful with technology, must be able to learn how to use state systems and create local data documents EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS and/or EXPERIENCE Current Nursing License in state of Arkansas (RN or LPN) CPR and First Aid Certification required Pediatric &/or emergency medicine experience preferred Alma School District assures Equal Employment Opportunities and equal education opportunities for employees and students as required by Federal and State Orders and Laws.
