Position Details: Title: Payroll Analyst III Position Type: Contract Job Location: Charlotte, NC Shift: 1st Shift Benefits: 401K, Dental insurance, Life Insurance, Medical Insurance, Vision Insurance Compensation: $26-43/HR POSITION SUMMARY: Performs a wide variety of Payroll processing activities for the US and Canada including: approving final register SR's for Weekly/Semi-monthly pay groups, supporting eTime Administration (multiple locations), processing wage garnishments, liens, managing bonus uploads, ad hoc wage and severance payments, and preparing and recommending off cycle payments for Wisely cards or checks. Ensuring tax compliance and answering queries from tax jurisdictions. Manages creation of SOWs with payroll provider for all needs. Additional duties: escalation support related to researching, determining and correcting out-of-balance conditions, report creation, (standard, ad hoc and custom) and audit support. Will train less experienced regional payroll practitioners as well as direct work of other payroll team members to close out payroll cycle weekly and semi. Assist in the development and management of strong relationships with payroll vendor, Total Rewards and Benefits teams, HR People Technology and IT teams, etc. Subject Matter Expert on systems so that we can also test changes to pay system and time and attendance system. Recommends improvements to processes regularly and oversees communication to those affected. Strong comprehension of all Payroll tools and applications relative to executing Payroll/eTime processing. RESPONSIBILITIES: Major responsibilities for this position will focus on: Lead Wage garnishment / liens processing Lead managing requests in the Service Now system. Tax administration back-up Data mining / report creation (standard, ad hoc, and custom). Lead other payroll process special events (ASR, AIP, stock vesting, United Way, hourly bonus compliance). Audits (Internal and External 3rd party data support) Collaborates with payroll manager and team to complete internal and external Audit deliverables Continuous improvement of payroll related processes. Work with others in People Experience, Benefits and Finance to ensure proper financial reporting as well as root cause analysis when issues arise with payroll. Acquisitions, projects, and SOWs with vendors (various depending on circumstances) Other duties as assigned by Payroll Manager. Will have ownership over any Support tickets opened with Payroll or the global HCM team and work to successful resolution in a timely and collaborative manner. Will lead large projects that may occur with processes or systems used by NAM payroll team, when assigned as the primary resource. Will agree to adhere to the Governance process that applies to change management and system configuration changes for the Payroll and Time Capture systems and/or any integration into and out of those systems. Manages Service Now Request queue. Will lead in the completion the monthly Payroll SOX audits for US and Canada. Additional responsibilities that may be assigned as needed by the Payroll Manager: Serves as back-up to the Payroll Tax Analyst to ensure SEE's payroll taxes are compliant with federal, state, and local regulations. Researches laws and regulations regarding federal, state, and local taxes, taxable events and payroll withholding procedures in a multi-state environment. Assists Payroll Tax Analyst in processing W-2's, W-2C's annually, and other critical year end processing tasks. Develops necessary controls including relationships with internal and external auditors and federal, state, and local agencies. Back-up for Payroll Tax Analyst in the management of ADP Smart Compliance. Ensures employee federal, state, and local taxes are set up appropriately in ADP GlobalView software, and in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws. Remains knowledgeable of federal, state, and local tax laws as they apply, to include multi-jurisdictional processing, compensation, and Section 125 benefits. QUALIFICATIONS: Mandatory Proficiency with payroll software and processes Excellent math skills Ability to work quickly under pressure Strong written and verbal communication Superior customer service and negotiating skills Ability to work with a team (Internal to payroll, cross functionally and 3rd Parties) Collaboration Flexibility Initiative 5 to 7 years of Payroll experience in a multi-state environment. ADP GlobalView or SAP payroll experience. GlobalView reporting proficiency. Intermediate level proficiency with Excel spreadsheets to include pivot tables and VLookup. Intermediate level knowledge of complexities of state and local taxation, to include reciprocal agreements. Highly analytical and strong ability to communicate both written and verbally to convey clear and accurate information in a timely manner. Skilled in Microsoft Office software platforms. Excellent attention to detail. Strong time management and project management skills. Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment and establish relationships. Strong ability to learn and utilize different systems and programs. Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to interact professionally with all levels within the organization, and excellence in written and verbal communication. High personal standards of excellence, commitment and integrity while maintaining confidential information. Preferred Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification or Fundamentals of Payroll (FPC) certification required within 18 months. Proficiency with time software and processes Experience with MS Excel and Word. Knowledge of various payroll software systems and understanding of data integrations inbound and outbound with benefits and other third-party vendors. Other Considerations: Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office applications, and Sharepoint If working remotely/flex, requires stable internet connectivity during critical business hours to perform expected work deliverables When attending meetings held via Microsoft TEAMS, Webex or Zoom, should present a professional business appearance during work hours. An on-camera presence is requested as much as possible. The critical days of the week for this role are MONDAYS and TUESDAYS and those daily hours may exceed 8 in a day.
