Job Description Data Center Engineer - Infrastructure / Cloud Company: Russo Operational Consulting Group (ROC) Location: Annapolis Junction, MD Clearance Requirement: Active TS/SCI Employment Type: Full-Time Role Overview We are seeking a Data Center Engineer - Infrastructure/Cloud to support enterprise-scale data center modernization and hybrid cloud operations in a classified environment. This role is infrastructure-first. It is not a cloud-only or application DevOps position. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience designing, engineering, securing, and operating physical and virtual data center environments, with strong depth in virtualization and hybrid cloud architectures. Key Responsibilities Design, engineer, and optimize infrastructure services to improve security, availability, performance, and capacity utilization. Assess existing data center architectures and recommend modernization strategies. Plan and support migration from legacy hardware to modern virtualized and hybrid infrastructure. Design and maintain secure, hardened infrastructure environments, including patching and lifecycle management. Engineer virtual infrastructure solutions to maximize compute, storage, and network efficiency. Design highly available private cloud and active-active data center architectures. Develop automation and orchestration processes for provisioning and de-provisioning infrastructure resources. Establish and document security, configuration, and performance benchmarks. Support infrastructure monitoring, metrics, dashboards, and reporting. Create infrastructure service catalog offerings and supporting documentation. Provide advanced technical support across architecture, integration, and operations. Required Qualifications Proven experience in data center infrastructure engineering across physical and virtual environments. Strong hands-on experience with VMware virtualization technologies (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, vCloud or equivalent). Experience working in hybrid cloud environments. Hands-on experience with multiple operating systems: Windows and Linux (UNIX/Solaris/AIX a plus). Familiarity with enterprise networking, storage, and compute infrastructure. DoD 8570 IAT Level III certification (or ability to obtain prior to start). Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility. Preferred Qualifications Professional certifications in VMware, Linux, Networking, Storage, or Cloud platforms. Experience with infrastructure automation and orchestration tools. ITIL Foundations or similar ITSM experience. Experience supporting classified or highly regulated environments. Important Notes This is not a cloud-only DevOps role. Candidates focused exclusively on AWS application pipelines, CI/CD, or software delivery will not be a fit.
