Job Description: Fulfills the mission of Norwich University by performing tasks related to payroll processing. Utilizes and improves systems pertaining to payroll processes, reporting, auditing, and data collection, and participates in various projects. Hybrid work schedule may be authorized. Essential Functions Administrates University payroll for employees, students, and international employees in the University payroll management system. Ensures accuracy of University electronic timecards and payroll records. maintains employee data, garnishments, deductions, and other information in employee payroll records. Processes employment verifications and other employment related requests. Coordinates payroll advance requests. Prepares reports, briefings and trainings related to payroll, taxes, or retirement administration Reconciles voluntary benefit invoices. Trains designated HR staff on payroll procedures. Serves as department's main point of contact for payroll issues. Ensures all payroll and retirement related processes comply with applicable state and federal laws and regulations and Norwich University policies. Other Functions Maintains confidentiality of sensitive or private information. Communicates with employees, students, and others in a respectful and clear manner. Serves on University committees, councils, workgroups or other designated bodies as assigned. Uses computers, telephones, and job-related equipment, including proficiency in related systems and software. Speaks, reads and writes in English. Communicates by telephone, email, letter, in person, or other means or device. Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor. Requirements: Associate's degree; relevant experience may substitute for some education 5 years of experience in payroll administration. Banner Payroll experience a plus. Experience in higher education strongly preferred. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook) and ERP payroll systems Able to sit, squat, reach, push, pull, and manipulate related equipment; lift 15 pounds; travel outdoors to various parts of the campus Work some evening or weekend hours Environmental Standards Indoor work at a computer workstation. Low level of exposure to noise, dust, fumes, vibrations and temperature changes.
