We having an opening for a Water Treatment Plant Operations Coordinator (Plant Operator III) vacancy available on the 3rd shift , which covers 11:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m. Monday - Friday. This position is responsible for the operation & maintenance primarily located at the Brown Water Treatment plant with potential coverage and assistance at the Williams Water Treatment Plant when needed. Assigned duties include work at two water supply facilities, elevated and ground storage tanks, and two pressure zones including the associated pump and storage facilities. Certified operators are required to monitor treatment process components to ensure efficient and effective operations and to work without direct supervision or solo on a shift. You must be readily available by phone with ability to work rotational stand-by/recall duty.Duties/ResponsibilitiesCoordinates and operates, maintains, and adjusts treatment plant equipment; prioritizes and assigns work; trains employees; monitors chemical feeds and makes process adjustments; collects samples; performs laboratory analysis; calibrates chemical meters; troubleshoots complex or escalated plant operation issues; and ensures that plant operations comply with permit and other applicable regulations, policies, and procedures. Coordinates and performs plant equipment and system inspections; calibrates and tests safety and other plant equipment; performs preventative maintenance, including performing minor repairs and maintaining lubricant levels in equipment, to ensure proper working condition and functioning of equipment. Participates in reviewing operational policies and makes recommendations; cleans equipment and assigned areas, including washing filters and removing sludge; and loads and unloads bulk chemicals and supplies. Prepares and coordinates the preparation of reports, records, logs, work orders, and other documentation; maintains databases and online systems; enters, updates, gathers, compiles, reviews and/or submits information; reviews and proofs information for accuracy and completeness. KNOWLEDGE OF: Practices and methods of coaching and leading the work of others (based on assignment). Minimum Qualifications & ExperienceHigh School Diploma or Equivalent (GED, HiSET, TASC) One year of additional vocational training Three years of experience in a surface water treatment facility North Carolina B Surface or higher Water Treatment Operator's Certification or hold an equivalent certification from another state. (North Carolina Grade A Surface Water Treatment Operator's license within 2 years of hire.)
