CNC Machinist

Job Title: CNC Lathe Machinist Job DescriptionWe are seeking a skilled CNC Lathe Machinist to set up and operate CNC lathes, producing precision parts and instruments. You will be responsible for planning CNC programs to control contour-path machining of parts on automatic machine tools.Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC lathes to produce precision parts. Analyze drawings, sketches, and design data to determine dimensions and configurations of cuts. Select cutting tools and determine machine speeds and feed rates. Determine reference points and direction of machine cutting paths. Compute angular and linear dimensions, radii, and curvatures. Write instruction sheets and cutter lists to guide machine setup and operation. Write and revise machine instructions to regulate movement along cutting paths. Compare computer printouts with original program sheets to ensure accuracy. Observe machine operations on trial runs to verify programmed instructions. Complete quality and inspection paperwork. Essential Skills Knowledge of computers and electronics, including computer numerical control, basics of programming, and computer-aided manufacturing. Experience with CNC milling, setup, and machine changeovers. Proficiency in G&M Codes, CNC Programming, and live editing. Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring instruments like calipers and micrometers. Strong math aptitude and shop mathematics skills. Experience with overhead cranes and forklifts. Additional Skills & Qualifications Possess physical strength and ability to handle tooling and set up large workpieces. Own tools of the trade and use them effectively. Ability to meet production requirements and collaborate with engineers and inspectors. Understanding of geometric tolerance and dimensioning. Knowledge of metal properties and appropriate cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and depths of cuts.
