Position Title:Internal Construction Project Technician IJob Description:HINDS COMMUNITY COLLEGEJob DescriptionsJOB TITLE: Internal Construction Project Technician IREPORTS TO: Internal Construction Projects ForemanDEPARTMENT: Facilities ManagementEXEMPT: NoVICE PRESIDENT: VP of Facilities Management & Auxiliary ServicesGENERAL STATEMENT OF THE FUNCTIONAll Hinds Community College employees must commit to the Caring Campus approach to student engagement and daily apply these general behavioral objectives: listen to student questions and concerns with a positive attitude and make meaningful connections with students.The Internal Construction Project Technician I works with a small construction crew that focuses on various small renovation, remodel and repair projects, and other special projects, across the campuses. This position is responsible for assisting with all aspects of these projects.QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Basic Requirements: construction experience, basic computer skills, good communication skills, ability to work in a team environment, good organizational skills.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEPreferred 3 years of relevant work experience in construction Knowledge of Building Codes, OSHA and other related regulatory policies Mandatory High school diploma or equivalent Minimum 1 year of construction experience Highly customer service oriented Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent time management skills Demonstrated ability to work well with others Ability to carry, lift, push, or pull 50 lbs. or more ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES , include the following.Other duties may be assigned. Ability to work as a team member. Organized, detailed and quality oriented. Strong interpersonal skills and focus on customer satisfaction. Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions. Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency. Cross-train in other responsibilities. Timely and accurate completion of essential responsibilities. Ability to operate within schedules and budgets. Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to a project schedule. Ability to work in adverse environments which include inclement weather. Ability to travel to all Hinds CC locations. Responsible for quality installations. Solve field and site problems or issues that interfere with the successful completion of the project. Ability to complete a punch-list. Strong knowledge of construction practices including but not limited to; following scope of work and/or blueprints, install structures and fixtures (lights, windows, ceilings, molding, etc.), building frameworks (walls, floors, doorframes, etc.), concrete formwork, paint, general maintenance repairs, etc. Knowledge of proper use equipment and hand/power tools in a construction environment. Ability to be certified in construction equipment such as lifts. Ability to read blueprints and layouts. Ability to work with, assist, and train under other craft workers. Maintain a clean job site in an effort to eliminate potential hazards. Maintain communication with Facilities Management personnel to ensure all policies and processes are followed. Promote department professionalism, teamwork, and the one college concept. Perform other duties that may be assigned by the appropriate authority.
