School Speech Pathologists

Position: Speech-Language PathologistLocation: Special Services DepartmentRate: $67/hourRequirement: Must possess a valid NJDOE Speech-Language Specialist certificate Qualifications:Completion of a Master's degree with major emphasis in speech-language pathology, communication disorders or speech-language and hearing science Applicant must hold or be eligible for a Speech/Language Pathologist Professional License from the State of New Jersey ASHA certification is preferred; however, CFY's may be considered if supervision is accessible. Must be able to stand and work continuously for a minimum of four hours per work day. Must be able to use arms and hands without restrictions to accommodate the physical, mobility, and ambulatory needs of students. Favorable criminal background check and child registry check required. 2 Step Tuberculin test. General Responsibilities:Assess and diagnose: Evaluate speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders in students Create treatment plans: Develop individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with speech-language needs Provide therapy: Use diagnostic tools and therapy techniques to support the curriculum Educate: Train and educate students, parents, and other professionals Collaborate: Work with teachers, parents, and other professionals to achieve goals Maintain records: Keep detailed records and report progress Organize: Organize the school program and coordinate services with other student services Participate: Attend school events and contribute to the school community
