Job Title Project Engineer Location Hirani Corporate Office - Hicksville, NY 11801 US (Primary) Job Type Full-time Category Inspection Travel 75 - 90% Job Description Job Summary: The Project Engineer plays a key technical role supporting both design and construction activities for the Second Avenue Subway Phase 2 project. This position ensures compliance with contract specifications and quality standards by managing documentation workflows, reviewing technical submittals, and coordinating issue resolution between designers, contractors, and the MTA. The Project Engineer serves as a crucial liaison facilitating communication and consistency across all project phases. Key Responsibilities: Technical Review & Document Control: Manage, review, and evaluate design documents for compliance with project criteria. Administer and coordinate the review and delivery of shop drawings and submittals. Maintain up-to-date record copies of contracts, drawings, addenda, change orders, and approved shop drawings at the project office. Prepare and coordinate responses to Requests for Information (RFIs). Coordination & Issue Resolution: Act as the central point for design coordination across all contracts. Support dispute avoidance and help resolve project issues at the lowest possible level. Evaluate the technical aspects of changes and claims and contribute to claims resolution efforts. Manage the project's issue resolution process and mitigation strategies. Participate in technical task force meetings and "over-the-shoulder" reviews with Design Builders and the General Engineering Consultant (GEC). Compliance & Reporting: Prepare and distribute project status reports outlining progress, quality, and key issues. Monitor and track the issuance and review of final design drawings, shop drawings, product data, and other submittals. Job Requirements Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. 3-7 years of progressive experience in an engineering role, preferably on large-scale infrastructure or transit projects. Proven experience in reviewing technical documents such as drawings, specifications, submittals, and RFIs. Familiarity with Design-Build and other project delivery methods. Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills. Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT certification preferred. Salary: $65.00 - $70.00 per hour #zr
