In Portland, we have a group home, a co-living home, and we come together for community events. As a Campus Volunteer Coordinator (CVC) you will work as a liason between UP/the Moreau Center for Service and Justice and L'Arche Portland to coordinate student volunteers and engagement opportunities including events on-campus, events off-campus, and ongoing off-campus service. L'Arche@UP, formerly known as REX, is a longstanding program bringing together UP students & people with intellectual disabilities in the Portland metro area. It is a space for inclusive spiritual reflection and relationship building. Because of the long-standing programmatic partnership between L'Arche and UP, event planning is a larger element of the CVC role at L'Arche Portland. Events include an annual Nativity play and a spring picnic. L'Arche Portland's two home locations are in east Portland and Beaverton, both about 1.5 hrs from campus on public transit or about 30 minutes by car. It is not required for the L'Arche CVC or a regular volunteer to be a driver. The L'Arche CVC will also be responsible for recruiting drivers for carpooling to off-campus events if they are not able to drive or they need additional carpooling. Moreau Center vehicles are available for reservation for transportation to sites. CVCs strengthen the Moreau Center by being direct links to the local community and by making local community needs known to their peers and the greater campus community. Core Duties The CVC will have a set of responsibilities defined by L'Arche . These tasks will be determined by the needs of the organization and the skills and interests of the applicant.
