VDC Technician - Sheetmetal

Snapshot / Role Overview We're seeking a VDC Technician specializing in Sheetmetal in Chicago Metro to create 3D models and coordinate HVAC ductwork for commercial construction projects. Impact Eliminate field conflicts through precise duct coordination. Accelerate fabrication with accurate shop drawings. Improve installation quality and system performance. Support seamless collaboration across mechanical trades. Responsibilities Develop detailed sheetmetal and ductwork models in Revit. Perform clash detection and coordinate with other systems. Generate fabrication drawings for sheetmetal shop. Create material take-offs and cutting lists. Support field teams with layout coordination and RFI responses. Maintain model accuracy and update as-built documentation. Collaborate with estimators, project managers, and installers. Requirements Must-Haves: 2+ years of VDC or BIM experience with HVAC ductwork or sheetmetal. Proficiency with Autodesk Revit and Navisworks. Understanding of ductwork design, fabrication, and installation. Strong spatial reasoning and attention to detail. Nice-to-Haves: Experience with CAMduct or other fabrication software. Background in sheetmetal fabrication or HVAC installation. Knowledge of SMACNA standards and duct design principles. Bluebeam Revu proficiency for coordination and markups.
