OT (Occupational Therapist)

Unit Notes - Unit: PT, OT, Speech -# patients treated per day: Depends on area they are assigned to, outpatient - up to 9 per day, inpatient - up to 13 per day, rehab - varies - Certs: CCC-SLP is required for Speech, PT must be licensed in the state, & OT must have passed NBCOT exam (this is exam for certification) - EMR: Cerner Powerchart - Rehab Aides/OTA/PTAL: Yes - usually 2 - they will assist in rehab - Weekend Requirement: varies - they will specify that when they send a requisition over - Holidays: Holidays are not required - Scrub Color/Uniform: They must wear a maroon polo shirt and dark colored pants, closed toed shoes, and a lab coat is optional - Outpatient and Inpatient: Possibly - facility will specify what areas they are needed for with requisition - Pharmacy 24/7: Yes - Shifts: Varies depending on what they need at the time- sometimes they will work Wed-Sun or Thur-Mon, shifts are typically 8 hrs and the start t- time varies - What areas are they required to cover: will cover area assigned to and potentially float to other areas as well - Floor specific orientation: 1.5 days of orientation to job and unit, the new hire orientation is not done through hospital wide, it is done specifically in the department and it is usually 1.5 days in length, Cerner training will be done at this time if needed - Common diagnosis / Types of patients: Inpatient - no NICU, pediatrics, PICU, ER, ICU, etc - PT - ortho, post surgical, neuro, trauma, cardiac, medsurg, Speech - stroke, TBI, neuro, trauma, cognitvie impairments, difficulties swallowing, candidates must have experience with bedside swallow studies, video swallowing studies experienced is preferred OT - ortho, post surgical, neuro, trauma, etc. Oupatient PT/OT - ortho/neuro Speech - trauma, neuro, etc. Rehab - neuro, spinal cord injuries, trauma, etc. - Additional Notes: One year of experience or more is required, travel experience is preferred, trauma experience is preferred, Please screen candidates according to what requisition says - they will specify what is needed, if candidates have inpatient clinical they may consider bringing them on without the true full one year of experience
