The Health Initiative aims to transform the healthcare system by redirecting money toward essential factors that significantly impact health, such as nutritious food and safe housing. Current healthcare spending predominantly focuses on medical care, with limited investment in these crucial determinants of health, resulting in the U.S. having poor health outcomes compared to other high-income countries. By reallocating funds to address basic needs, the initiative envisions improving health outcomes and reducing overall healthcare costs, benefiting both individuals and institutions through decreased reliance on medical care and increased insurance company revenues. The client has mobilized efforts across sectors to guide healthcare institutions in investing nearly $1 billion in essentials like food and housing since 2018, significantly improving the health of vulnerable populations and demonstrating cost savings in states like North Carolina. The Senior Director, State Programs, plays a critical leadership role at the client, focusing on innovative approaches to incorporating drivers of health into state healthcare funding. This position is central to the client's mission of shifting financial resources at the state level toward essential health determinants. The Senior Director's responsibilities include crafting inventive strategies for state-level financing, coordinating with internal and external partners to tailor these approaches as needed, and mentoring team members to ensure effective execution. This role requires a candidate with strong communication and relationship-building skills to successfully influence changes in healthcare funding models. As part of a dynamic and fast-paced environment, the Senior Director collaborates closely with the client's executive leadership, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and working alongside Co-Founders Rebecca Onie and Rocco Perla. Although the position may not always oversee direct reports, it always requires leading a diverse team to achieve strategic goals across various states. The successful candidate for this position will exhibit exceptional attention to detail and adept management of complex initiatives within the broader framework of promoting financial investments in essential health needs at the state level.
