JOB DESCRIPTION A transplant nurse is a crucial member of the transplant team that works closest to the recipient of organ donations. Also recognized as a transplant nurse coordinator, this specialized position is accountable for coordinating a patient's care through each step of the transplantation process. In addition to regular nursing duties, such as taking vitals, administering medication, and prepping a patient for surgery, a transplant nurse is to give knowledge, educate, and support to transplant recipients and their families throughout the transplant journey, managing everything from identifying potential transplant recipients to ensuring the donated organs are not detested and or rejected by the recipient's body. This position is open to any level of RN, including Residents. New hires may be eligible for a hiring bonus of up to $12,000+.DUTIES Duties commonly carried out by transplant nurses include: Educate patients, donors, and their loved ones about the risks associated with transplant operations. Take and check the medical histories of recipients and donors. Order lab tests to confirm a donor is a match. Evaluate patients' suitability for donation or transplant. Clear the patients and donors for surgical procedures. Monitor and prepare a deceased donor's body for surgery. Prepare the operating room and instruments. Ensure a safe and sterile operating room. Provide pre-and post-operative care. Assist surgeons during transplant and organ harvesting procedures. Monitor the patient's vitals during procedures. Be familiar with and know how to recognize cardiovascular and respiratory decline. Dress wounds, monitor patients' vital signs after surgery, administer medication, remain vigilant, and be familiar with signs and symptoms of infections or organ rejection. Work beside the discharge team, caregivers, and family members to ensure appropriate aftercare. Know the correct dosage of the medication and be aware of any complications, contraindications, and interactions that may occur. And other duties as required. EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTSNational Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) certification A valid nursing certificate, ADN, BSN, or MSN degree from an accredited college or university. A valid unencumbered RN license for the State of Washington. The appropriate license to work in their state/county. ACLS certification. (Preferred) BLS certification. Must have at least 12 months of relevant consecutive acute care experience in this specialty. Certified Clinical Transplant Nurse (CCTN) Certification through the American Board for Transplant Certification. (Preferred) Current vaccinations and health clearance certification. Excellent knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques. Must have previous experience with starting IVs. High-level interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with patients during stressful experiences. Strong organizational abilities and good communication skills Fluent in English. WORK LOCATIONSpokane Washington Area HOURS OF OPERATION 12-hour Night Shifts Available: 24hrs, 30hrs, or 36hrs per week COMPENSATION$80,000-140,000 Annually BENEFITS Employees who are eligible to participate in the company benefits program will receive access to all benefits to which you are entitled to by law and or the company policy.
