Behavioral and Neurodiversity SpecialistSummer 2026 – Seward & Carkeek Park LocationsKong Academy is seeking a dedicated Behavioral and Neurodiversity Specialist to provide on-site support for campers who may need emotional regulation breaks, behavioral assistance, or a quiet space to reset. This role is ideal for educators, behavior specialists, or professionals with experience supporting neurodiverse children in dynamic group environments.What You'll Do Operate a designated support space that includes calming activities such as books, crafts, games, and sensory toolsProvide basic behavioral support or redirection as neededOffer a compassionate, regulated presence during camper meltdowns, escalations, or overstimulationAdminister basic first aid when appropriate and escalate serious issues (e.g. medical or behavioral emergencies) to directors, parents, or 911 if neededSupport camp leadership (Director or Assistant Director) when the behavioral station is not in use Who We’re Looking For Passionate about supporting neurodiverse children in active play-based settingsExperience with behavior management, SEL, trauma-informed care, or inclusive educationCalm, emotionally grounded, and confident in de-escalating challenging behaviorsOrganized, flexible, and able to work both independently and as part of a teamAble to maintain professional documentation (incident reports, notes, etc.) Required Qualifications Proof of relevant training, certification, or hands-on experience supporting neurodiverse childrenAvailable for at least 3 to 4 weeks of summer (preference for full summer availability)Background in education, psychology, behavioral therapy, or related fieldsFirst Aid/CPR preferred, but not required Camp Schedule & Shifts Camps run 10 weeks at both Seward Park and Carkeek ParkCamp hours: 9:00 AM to 3:00 PMStaff shifts vary weekly:Morning shift: 8:00 AM to 12:00 PMAfternoon shift: 11:30 AM to 3:30 PMFull-day shift: 8:15 AM to 3:45 PMStaff work between 15 to 40 hours per week depending on needs and availability General Staff Responsibilities (Applies to All Roles)While your primary focus is behavioral support, all summer staff are expected to: Ensure camper safety at all timesMaintain a positive, high-energy presenceModel emotional regulation and kindnessAssist in transitions, group activities, and cleanup as neededComplete required online and in-person training prior to the start of campAccurately document incidents and injuries when they occur Why Work With Kong Academy?
