Radiology Department Coordinator Receives patients for radiology examinations and special procedures. Verifies ID and all appropriate patient demographics and information. Checks orders in the RIS system and tracks patients. Minimum Qualifications Education, Certification, and/or Licensure: 1. High school diploma or equivalent. Experience: 1. Six (6) months of administrative experience. Promptly determines appropriate service and communicates to department area involved. Maintains customer service. 2. Answers general inquiries from visitors, patients, volunteers and hospital personnel. Maintains a professional, helpful and knowledgeable atmosphere at all times and provides the highest customer service to all patients. 3. Receives all incoming calls for the entire radiology department and addresses all phones with courtesy, accuracy and communicates all pertinent information to the appropriate personnel. 4. Verifies patient's identity, orders and ordering doctor at patient arrival; responsible for verifying and tracking all outpatients and all ER patients in the RMS system and record exams on daily department logs and schedules. 5. Generates daily schedule for all modalities of inpatients and outpatients for radiology department, radiologists and transport desk. Verifies and sorts all order requisitions, schedules and doctor scripts to all modalities for the day's work. 6. Performs RMS functions and has full knowledge of office equipment and all systems required for workflow. 7. Verifies each patient has an appropriate radiology number. If not, assigns a new radiology number and ensures no duplication. 8. Places calls as directed by radiologists and radiology staff. 9. Notifies staff of STAT orders, portable studies, personnel needed in O.R. 10. Under direction of physician, supervisor, or floor nurses notifies the "on-call" technologist. 11. Notifies physician's offices, nursing floors, ER, etc., regarding "wet check" and critical results reports on patient exams, and logs appropriately. 12. Coordinates patients to return for additional X-rays ordered by Radiologist or patient's physician. 13. Orders isotope materials during off hours. 14. Checks and corrects all radiology exams ordered into the system daily to ensure correct charging of exams and accurate logging of exams to preserve integrity of monthly reports. 15. Read or fax reports to doctor offices, as requested. Keeps track of all bad faxes and resubmits if necessary. 16. Notifies supervisor of office supplies as needed. 17. Pulls radiology films and jackets from files for distribution to, patients, emergency department physicians and other medical or nursing personnel as requested while maintaining proper release forms. Pulls and matches request, films and other paperwork for satellites and places them appropriately for dictation. 18. Maintains accurate contact information for medical staff and all department personnel, necessary for efficient communication and continuum of patient care. 19. Maintains accurate filing system of patient x-ray films and patient jackets. Annually disposes of x-ray films, according to set criteria. 20. Burns CDs for legal and medical purposes. Legal requests must be approved through HIM Dept before they are released. 21. Burns CD for patient or outside facility. Scans all paperwork associated with CD onto PACS. 22. Loads outside CD or pushes outside facility. Scans all reports and/or paperwork associated with CD into PACS. Generates orders for outside films and resolves exceptions in PACS. Tracks outside orders for satellite ultrasounds. Scans all paperwork associated with order onto PACS and resolves exception. Tracks PET scan orders. Scans all paperwork associated with order onto PACS and resolves exceptions.
