Position Overview: Individuals in this position have the responsibility of moving goods safely and efficiently between MIL and its customers, as well as performing a range of logistics functions. Drivers are held to the company's highest standards of professionalism and dependability. Essential Job Responsibilities: Operate MIL vehicles, including cargo vans and box trucks, to perform pickups and deliveries between multiple company buildings within Elk Grove Village and local customers. Operate MIL vehicles, including cargo vans and box trucks to destinations including the greater Chicagoland area as well as multiple-stop routes to Rockford and Niles, both of which are same day routes. Conduct pre-loading, loading, unloading and order check-in/check-out operations in support of assigned routes. Operate forklifts and material handling equipment. Perform product routing, storage, and staging operations. Maintain real time tracking of all orders at various internal and external routing stops. Perform 3rd party shipping and receiving functions including packaging and data input for UPS, FedEx, and various 3rd party freight and customer shipments. Assist in identifying and implementing department efficiencies and improvements. Uphold high standards of personal appearance as well as vehicle maintenance and cleanliness. Take part in periodic on-going training related to customer service procedures and qualifications. Participate in periodic testing and performance evaluations. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Qualifications and Requirements: Must have a valid driver's license and a clean background/driving record. Must have and maintain class C license (non-CDL) under employment. Must be a detail-oriented, organized, self-starting individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to troubleshoot common maintenance and driving issues. Ability to prioritize and efficiently complete tasks with consistency and accuracy, often under pressure and/or short deadlines without supervision. Must be able to communicate with and assist customer facing personnel ranging from Customer Service Representatives, Account Managers, Estimators and the outside sales team. Maintain assigned vehicle(s) pursuant to company policies and procedures. To include but not limited to general maintenance, cleaning, and preventative maintenance. Basic computer literacy skills required, including Microsoft Office applications. Must be willing to learn MIL's internal production software as well. Minimum Job Requirements: Experience with forklift operation preferred. Employee will be required to gain MIL forklift certification within first two weeks on the job. Experience driving box trucks a plus. Bilingual in Spanish a plus. Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position which include but are not limited to standing, bending, lifting, and climbing in and out of vehicles. This position requires access to ITAR-controlled information and materials. The successful candidate must meet all ITAR eligibility requirements, including being a U.S. person as defined by ITAR. Reports To: As part of the Customer Service team, the Customer Service Driver will report directly to the Logistics Supervisor. Hours: Normal hours are typically 7:00 AM-4 PM, with some overtime and other flexibility required as needed. All changes from typical schedule are given with advance notice.
