INTERNAL POSTING ONLYSummer School Nurse The Mehlville School District is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of: Summer School Nurse (Elementary, Middle and/or High School positions)POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for providing medical care to students and staff.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned. Manages a safe medication administration program according to District policy and state law. Including assessing need, effects, proper administration and documentation. Assesses student and staff illnesses and injuries and prioritizes needs. Provides first aid emergency care to students and staff. Prepares reports regarding health related programs. Maintains school health records. Identifies students with special needs, prepares a condition report and distributes on a "need to know" basis. Plans and implements age appropriate screening programs. Acts as a resource to refer to community agencies and/or health care providers. Educates students, staff and community regarding wellness, medication, infection control and other health related topics. Participates as a health professional on care teams and IEP's to develop and implement individual health plans to promote, maintain or restore health, prevent illness and effect rehabilitation. Provides a system for the prevention and control of communicable disease. Assists in monitoring the school health environment to ensure health safety. Communicates with parents, teachers, principals and the medical community regarding student health related issues. Maintains confidentiality of all information encountered in the scope of responsibilities. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. Requires an Associate's Degree from an accredited college or technical school. Requires 2 to 5 years of job-related prior experience in a health related occupation. Required to be a Registered Nurse and maintain current licensure. Maintains professional competence through in-services, individual professional activities and membership in professional organizations. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position. Ability to apply common sense, analyze data and interpret results yielding various outcomes. Ability to comprehend and construct detailed memos, letters and correspondence and share information in one-on-one situations. Ability to effectively supervise and motivate others. Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships. Knowledge of medical terminology, practices and procedures. Basic math skills required. EQUIPMENT USED TO PERFORM THE JOB: Which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position. Personal computer. Medical equipment. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Environmental and atmosphere conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job. Requires an extremely demanding level of attention. Regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and bio-hazardous materials. Exposed to moderate noise levels. PHYSICAL ABILITIES: That are commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job. Requires substantial talking, hearing, grasping, standing, walking, driving, reaching with hands/arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, and repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movements. Regularly required to lift objects weighing up to 5 pounds. Occasionally required to lift a child. Requires clarity of vision when reading eye charts, assessing rashes, wound, pupil size and preparing reports. Terms of Employment Work to include the 4 week summer school period (June 1-June 26, 2026). Summer School Compensation: $33/hour for the duration of summer school classroom experience (June 1-June 26, 2026)__7.5 hours per day. One additional workday/professional learning day may be scheduled prior to June 1 and will be compensated at the $33/hour rate for up to 7.5 hours.
