Preferred Skills: Experience developing and executing workflows Experience in leading huddles - identifying and implementing process improvement measures. Experience in leading/navigating the team with changes throughout the day - add-on patients, etc Required: Experience in Aria and Epic applications: Equipment: Varian TrueBeam and Clinic IX CT Simulation experience in GE scanners w/ contrast ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE Accountable for supervising the scheduling of simulations and patient treatments. Establishes work schedules for the radiation therapists. Performs treatments as ordered. Accountable for participating in RTT's annual evaluations with the supervisor. Accountable for participating in RTT's annual competencies with the supervisor. Accountable for overseeing daily treatment charges and making sure all charges are captured on a daily basis. Ensures equipment is working properly. Ensures safety of work environment. Orients and mentors new radiation therapists. Accountable for participating in quality improvement, quality control and radiation safety standards. Develops educational programs for all employees that encourage self-development and enhance workgroup performance. Patient Interaction: Verifies the patient's identification using two forms of ID as outlined in hospital policies using AIDET clearly and effectively explains the treatment procedures in a professional manner Assists patient in dressing for exam and attends to patient's physical well-being while escorting to and from treatment area Instructs/communicates with patient and/or patient's family (as appropriate) regarding the procedure/treatment to be performed and assesses the patient's ability to tolerate exam Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge, continued education and skills to provide appropriate care for the following age groups (specific to department): adult and geriatric Performs high quality procedures examination according to exam protocol in a timely manner Exam Performance: Verifies the treatment dose, fields, and frequency chart for physician's notes, precautions, and patient consent forms Administers radiation therapy according to exam protocol in a timely manner Performs simulation and portal films according to procedure Ensures that treatment records are properly completed with patient identification data and appropriate labeling Utilizes technical knowledge and skills to perform procedures accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with age specific criteria Completes charges and treatment documentation in electronic medical record Job Performance Will Include: Work schedules to ensure adequate coverage Participates in the modality specific QA/QC program and ensures compliance with regulations A working knowledge of procedural coding and billing Maintains adequate supplies and inventory Charge reconciliation and other reports Monitors students in all areas of current competencies Assists in the orientation and training of staffLeads the work of therapists ensuring that procedures are performed according to standards KEY SUCCESS FACTORS Completion of an accredited program in Radiation Therapy. A Bachelor of Science in Radiation Therapy preferred.
