Surgery - Thoracic Physician Assistant

SSM Health-SLUCare is seeking an experienced advanced practice provider to join our growing service line. SLUCare represents the academic medical practice of Saint Louis University, known for leading-edge care and groundbreaking research. This inpatient position will work in the ICU. Job Highlights: Will work collaboratively with cardiothoracic surgeons, intensivists, and the multi-disciplinary teams to deliver advanced clinical care to adult patients recovering from complex cardiac surgical procedures including CABG, valve replacement, and ECMO support. Conducts comprehensive patient assessments, develops and initiates treatment plans, manages mechanical circulatory device support (VV/VA ECMO, IABP, Impella device), titrates vasoactive medications. Performs procedures including central line placement, arterial line placement, chest tube insertion and management, pacemaker management. Participates in multi-disciplinary rounds, engages in quality improvement initiatives, and provides patient/family education. Anticipate (3) 12-13-hour shifts per week with weekend rotation of 1:5 and holiday rotation. No call, no nights.
