Summary: Join a dedicated healthcare team as an Advanced Monitor Technician responsible for continuous cardiac rhythm observation in a specialized stepdown unit. This role involves vigilant telemetry monitoring and timely communication with nursing staff to ensure patient safety and care quality. Key Responsibilities: Monitor cardiac rhythms and telemetry consoles attentively. Alert nursing personnel promptly in response to rhythm changes or equipment alarms. Document and print cardiac strip assessments regularly, including admission, code events, and rhythm changes. Contribute positively to patient satisfaction, throughput, and overall hospital functionality. Perform additional duties as assigned to support clinical operations. Education and Training: High school diploma or equivalent required. EKG certification preferred. Healthcare experience such as Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, or Medical Technician is advantageous. Familiarity with medical terminology is preferred. Completion of a Dysrhythmia class and passing the associated test within 60 days of employment is mandatory unless exempted by prior certification or experience. Ongoing requirement to pass advanced dysrhythmia testing biannually. Experience: Previous experience as a monitor technician is preferred. Skills and Abilities: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to remain calm and focused during emergency situations. Physical Requirements: Good speech and auditory acuity for effective communication. Visual acuity necessary for patient observation. Capability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods. Potential exposure to blood or infectious materials requiring adherence to safety protocols. This position serves a regional healthcare community in the Southeastern United States, providing critical support in a high-acuity environment.
