Key Responsibilities:Sample Preparation and Analysis: Prepare and process cytological specimens, including sputum, urine, blood, and tissue samples, for microscopic examination. Stain, mount, and fix cell samples using various techniques to facilitate accurate diagnosis. Examine slides under the microscope to identify and assess cell morphology, noting any abnormalities or signs of disease. Screen and interpret Pap smears, fine needle aspirations (FNAs), and other cytological specimens. Detection of Abnormalities: Identify cellular changes or abnormalities indicative of infections, cancer, or other medical conditions. Recognize pre-cancerous changes in cells, such as dysplasia, and cancerous cells, including malignancies like carcinoma or lymphoma. Flag abnormal or suspicious specimens for further review by pathologists, providing detailed documentation of findings.
