This position is open to all candidates, including Locum or Traveling professionals. Position Highlights: Logistics: Pay: $47.04+ Contract Type: 1 base year with 4, 1-year option periods Schedule: Day Shift: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Location: East Orange, NJ Requirements: Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship. Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice Vascular Ultrasound Technology in a state, territory, or commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia. What does a typical day look like for the Registered Vascular Technician/Sonographer? You will: Day Shift: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Direct Patient Care: estimated 95% of the time is involved in direct patient care Administrative: estimated 5% of time not involved in direct patient care Prepare the patient for sonographic procedures by assessing the patient's needs and providing pretest patient education, explaining procedures, and answering questions; provide reassurance and support to the patient throughout the procedure; assure understanding of discharge instructions before the patient leaves the care area Perform diagnostic sonographic examinations according to the service's procedures. Locate and record internal elements of the body Perform quality control measures for the purpose of ensuring optimal quality images Technologists follow all national and local guidelines, including those of the Veterans Administration National Health Physics Program Evaluate test results for clarity and accuracy; take corrective action where appropriate Log data into patient information systems, and update file systems for tests performed Clean and disinfect equipment and workspace per standard operating procedure Recognize equipment malfunctions and readjust equipment or refer for repair Practice accurate and timely completion of scheduled and unscheduled work to maximize productivity Practice safety measures in infection control and the environment of care Apply the profession's code of ethics in all aspects of practice Demonstrate a high level of mental and emotional tolerance and even temperament when dealing with patients, families, and co-workers, using tact, sensitivity, sound judgment, and professional attitudes Communicate with customers (e.g., veterans, family members, and the general public), co-workers, and supervisors in a courteous, tactful, friendly, and cooperative manner Adhere to all facility and service-level policies and procedures Technologists follow all medical center policies, including infection control policies Technologists respond to inquiries related to patient care on time Technologists write notes in the medical record as needed to document any delayed case. Reasons for the delay are specified. The note includes a plan to get the study completed Perform other related duties as required What qualifications do you look for? In-depth knowledge of vascular anatomy and disease Ability to perform and interpret a wide range of vascular studies Proficiency in Doppler imaging, waveform analysis and intracranial exams Skilled in operating ultrasound equipment and optimizing image quality Ability to document disease progression or regression Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Vascular Sonographer (RVS) or Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) must be certified in general vascular technology by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) Previous experience with the VA is a plus If selected, candidates will need to complete credentialing and onboarding requirements consistent with VA medical staff processes.
