Supervisor, Tankering Operations The Supervisor, Tankering Operations provides shift-based operational oversight and support for tankering activities across the Lake Charles, Port Arthur, and Beaumont areas. This position functions as a supporting supervisor, extending operational coverage during assigned duty periods and ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient tankering operations. The role serves as an on-shift point of contact for field personnel, vendors, and customers, while coordinating closely with the lead Supervisor, Tankering Operations, who retains final administrative and personnel authority. Responsibilities Operational Support Provide real-time operational oversight for tankering activities during assigned shifts. Coordinate manpower coverage and respond to execution issues to ensure continuity of operations. Serve as the first-level escalation point for operational issues during duty periods. Communicate operational status, issues, and shift handovers to the lead Supervisor. Safety & Compliance Enforce established safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Conduct safety observations and verify compliance during tankering operations. Respond to incidents and near-misses, complete initial reporting, and escalate as required. Support audits, inspections, and corrective action follow-up. Training & Qualification Oversight Verify personnel qualifications and site-specific training compliance. Support annual, customer-specific, and company-required training requirements. Identify training gaps and coordinate follow-up through the lead Supervisor. Vendor & Customer Coordination Coordinate with vendors and third-party tankermen to support safe and compliant operations. Assist with product compatibility and transfer readiness reviews. Maintain professional communication with customers during operational disruptions. Documentation & Reporting Complete operational logs, safety observations, and incident documentation. Provide clear shift turnover summaries to ensure operational continuity. Qualifications Highly organized, detail-oriented, and accurate. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Sound judgment and ability to respond effectively in dynamic operational environments. Ability to work independently during assigned shifts while maintaining alignment with leadership. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Education & Experience: Current MMC with PIC (DL-barge) and/or (LG-barge) endorsement preferred. 35 years of experience in tankering, liquid bulk operations, marine operations, or a related industrial environment. Working knowledge of tank barge operations, equipment, and safety requirements. Physical Requirements & Working Conditions: Must be able to perform all physical duties associated with a Tank Barge PIC Primarily works at docks and marine facilities with periodic boarding of barges and vessels. Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Ability to walk, climb, and perform dockside inspections as required. Travel between operating locations within the assigned area is required. Exposure to outdoor environmental conditions including heat, cold, rain, and wind.
