OverviewAt Kimley-Horn, we do things differently - and we're looking for a Transmission & Distribution Design Leader to join our Greenwood Village, Colorado (CO) office! The ideal candidate is someone who wants to build something meaningful in Colorado's rapidly evolving power landscape.This is an opportunity to: Support and help shape a growing T&D design practice in Colorado Lead in the development and standardization of power delivery design standards Mentoring Design Technicians, Engineers in Training (EITs or EIs) Partner directly with utilities, municipalities, and energy developers Contribute to building and mentor a high-performing team Influence recruiting, strategy, and client development Drive meaningful infrastructure that supports the energy transition At Kimley-Horn, employees are empowered to operate like entrepreneurs - backed by the resources, reputation, and stability of a nationally recognized firm.Responsibilities Support a growing T&D design practice in Colorado by helping develop and standardize power delivery drafting and design standards Develop, review, and quality check technical drawings and plans of substantial complexity Implement and manage drafting, plan preparation, and drawing database maintenance standards Perform and review multifaceted calculations as needed to support design accuracy Operate with minimal day-to-day supervision while independently managing technical deliverables Apply knowledge of engineering and design principles to identify and suggest design improvements Supervise, mentor, and train CAD Design Technicians Coordinate workflow and project activities to maintain schedules and ensure quality control Develop familiarity with Kimley-Horn's practices, procedures, and design standards Qualifications 10+ years of design experience in any of the following: transmissions, distributions, or communication line design High school diploma or equivalent (associates degree preferred) Advanced knowledge and proficiency in Autodesk products and/or PLS CADD Understanding of the National Electrical Code, National Electrical Safety Code, IEEE, and ANSI Standards Ability to work in a team; both collaborating with and mentoring junior staff Strong work ethic, interpersonal communication/writing skills and desire to learn Detail oriented, professional attitude, good communication, team player, self-starter Ideal Qualifications Understanding of the National Electric Safety Code (NESC), Rural Utility Service (RUS) Electrical Bulletins, ASCE-7, or California General Order 95, and other ASCE/IEEE/CIGRE standards Ability to design structures using multiple materials Proficiency using Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (AutoCAD) Transmission Line Modeling (PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole) experience is a plus Experience with lattice towers is a plus Salary Range: $115,000 - $140,000 Eligible for Performance Based Bonus Compensation Why Kimley-Horn?At Kimley-Horn, we do things differently.
