ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Support HUSD Vision, Mission and Goals. Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality. Assist in the assessment of students' communication skills (e.g. articulation, language, fluency, voice, etc.) for the purpose of determining speech and language deficits. Develop recommendations based on assessments. Consult with teachers and speech-language pathologist to provide information and implement plans for services. Maintain records for the purpose of providing written support and documentation of services and service time provided. Documents student progress every 90 days. Provides documentation for billing purposes. Prepare materials and follow speech-language lessons appropriate for individuals or small groups (e.g. speech therapy, teaching materials, etc.). Provide direct instructional services to students under the supervision of the speech-language pathologist for the purpose of implementing goals for remediation of speech language deficits. Collects data on student growth. Travel between sites, as assigned, to perform therapeutic activities. Attend assigned meetings and/or in-services to gather information needed to perform job functions. Due to the potential for access to confidential student information, it is absolutely mandatory that this position safeguard and maintain the confidentiality of the information stored and discussed in the school and District. Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: Associate Degree from an accredited institution. Proof of completion of a Certified Speech Language Assistant program that is endorsed by the Arizona Speech-Language and Hearing Association. Eligible for Medicaid registration as a provider Two years of school-based experience preferred. Outstanding oral and written communication skills, and excellent organizational skills. Ability to work independently and to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with district staff and site team members. Ability to contribute and participate in the assessment, intervention and documentation process. Must be proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel). Must be able to learn new software, including IEP software. Ability to pass background and reference checking as stipulated by District standards. Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is regularly required to perform the following duties: Frequent communication with parents, students, and staff including the exchange of accurate information. Frequent interaction with students by bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist, requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles, bending legs at knee to come to rest on knees, or sitting on the floor requiring to resume an upright position. Moving about on foot and remaining on one's feet in an upright position while supervising student(s). Raising or lowering an object from one level ranging from 25-50 lbs. Exerting force upon an object so that the object moves away from the force or towards the force. Ascending and descending small ladder with agility. Required to have visual acuity to perform activities with student(s). TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-Time or Part-Time Position - 10 months, Monday - Friday, 8 hours a day. SALARY CLASSIFICATION: Appropriate salary placement on the Classified Hourly Salary Schedule. EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated by Site Administrator and according to District Policy.
