Senior EHS ManagerDirect Hire | $130,000-$140,000Location: Lansing, MI (Onsite) Position Overview The Senior Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager - Operations provides strategic and operational leadership for all Environmental, Health, and Safety programs across a multi-location operations campus. This role supports manufacturing, distribution, R&D, laboratory, machining, and administrative office environments. Reporting to the Senior Director, Global EHS Operations, the Senior EHS Manager is responsible for driving safety and environmental compliance programs, including air emissions, wastewater and stormwater permitting, hazardous and regulated waste management, and overall regulatory compliance. This position serves as the EHS subject-matter expert, standardizing and sustaining EHS programs across the campus through collaboration with operational leaders and global teams. We are looking for candidates who are currently in an EHS Management role that is an expert with EPA air permitting and wastewater. Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic & Operational Leadership Develop and execute a comprehensive EHS and risk control strategy across all operations. Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on complex EHS, regulatory, and risk management topics. Act as a strategic business partner to EHS Governance, integrating EHS into manufacturing, lab operations, and high-risk activities. Program Governance & Compliance Lead multi-site EHS program governance with emphasis on: Air emissions and permitting (Title V) Wastewater and stormwater compliance Hazardous and regulated waste management (RCRA, LQG) EPCRA, SPCC, and environmental reporting Ensure timely permitting, reporting, and regulatory compliance across all sites. Implement global EHS standards and drive compliance excellence. Collaboration & Project Support Partner with Facilities and Engineering teams to integrate EHS into capital projects and operational planning. Lead Management of Change (MOC) processes for facility, equipment, and operational changes. Act as liaison among engineering, facilities, procurement, legal, and planning teams. Data, Analytics & Continuous Improvement Drive data-driven EHS decision-making using analytics and performance metrics. Monitor and report EHS KPIs aligned with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards. Streamline EHS processes using continuous improvement and Lean methodologies. Incident & Risk Management Lead investigations of complex environmental and safety incidents using root cause analysis. Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs). Enhance risk management strategies for equipment, automation, and high-risk operations. Core EHS Program Leadership Exposure Control: Lead global programs including IH sampling, respiratory and hearing conservation, bloodborne pathogens, radiation, freezer/cryogen safety. Ergonomics: Drive enterprise ergonomics initiatives to reduce musculoskeletal disorders using design-based prevention. Change Management: Develop stakeholder-integrated systems for safe process and system changes. Innovation: Design and deploy innovative EHS tools, processes, and training programs. Best Practices: Share lessons learned and best practices across operations to drive consistency and performance. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in EHS or Science related program (CSP, CHMM, CIH, NEBOSH strongly preferred) 10+ years of experience in biotech, pharmaceutical, chemical, scientific, or heavy industrial environments. Minimum 8 years of direct Environmental Compliance Management experience. Preferred expertise in: Major Source / Title V Air Permitting Ethylene Oxide (EtO) compliance RCRA Large Quantity Generator (LQG) hazardous waste Medical waste disposal SPCC, SWPPP Flammable liquid storage SARA / EPCRA reporting Strong working knowledge preferred: NFPA codes for flammable liquids and gases Life Safety Codes in manufacturing environments Ability to travel up to 25%, including potential international travel.
