JOB SUMMARY: Cancer Support Community (CSC) is seeking an ambitious and detail-oriented individual who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of people impacted by cancer for our Project Manager of Education position. The Project Manager, Education will independently lead the development and delivery of educational programs for people living with cancer, their care partners, and loved ones, through the Frankly Speaking About Cancer education initiative. Role scope includes the conceptualizing, planning, writing, and dissemination of Frankly Speaking About Cancer projects (such as written, video, digital, social media, and webinar resources) to better understand and support the patient and caregiver experience of living with cancer. The ideal candidate will possess highly effective interpersonal and collaborative skills as well as excellent writing and verbal communication skills. This person will collaborate effectively with both internal associates in the organization as well as outside advocacy organizations, patient and caregiver advocates, healthcare professionals, and network partners on joint initiatives. The individual for this role will have at least two years of proven project management experience, ideally in a nonprofit, public health, or publication setting; excellent written and oral communications skills; excellent plain language writing and editing skills; knowledge of health literacy best practices; high attention to detail; and ability to manage multiple projects at once. Preferably, the candidate should possess grant-writing skills to develop persuasive and sound grant applications. Master's degree in social and behavioral sciences, public health, or communications, required. Written and spoken Spanish language proficiency, a plus. The candidate must be a highly effective collaborator, a self-started, a creative thinker and problem solver, and have a strong interest in and ability to develop educational programming and communications. PROGRAM & PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Manage multiple Education department projects through concept development, content writing utilizing plain language and health literacy best practices, advisory board and medical review, design editing and layout, printing, dissemination, promotion, and evaluation. Oversee content development of print and digital educational materials and concepts. Monitor and manage project budgets to ensure cost-effectiveness and efficient resource utilization. Oversee external vendors who provide services to CSC and departmental initiatives. Collaborate with the Director to increase department's efforts to expand educational programming to reach numerous audiences, including adolescents and young adults, older adults, Black or African American persons, Hispanic or Latino persons, people who do not speak English as a first language, people who live in rural communities, and others. Collaborate with the Director and all other assigned Education Team members in strategic efforts to add more evaluation and documentation of outcomes to education programs and publications. COLLABORATION & RELATIONSHIP BUILDING: Collaborate with advocacy partners, patients and caregivers, and healthcare experts in the development and medical review of educational programs. Develop and foster partnerships by attending community events and activities. Represent CSC at external stakeholder meetings and professional conferences. REPORTING, GRANTS, & PUBLICATIONS: Assist with the writing and submission of abstracts, posters, and oral presentations to academic and professional conferences, as assigned. Assist in the development and submission of occasional written manuscripts to academic journals. In coordination with the Senior Manager and Director, manage the development of assigned grant proposals, including written content and online submission of proposals and grants. Develop mid-year and annual reports for the department in collaboration with the Education Coordinator. Performs otherduties as requested by management SKILLS AND ABILITIES: End-to-end project management: concepting, planning, budget, timelines, managing multiple concurrent projects, resourcing, execution, vendor and partner management, quality assurance, risk mitigation, and delivery Educational content development: plain language writing and editing, health literacy best practices, inclusivity and cultural responsiveness, multiformat content (print, video, digital, webinars), audience understanding and tailoring, medical and patient advocacy review coordination Collaboration and relationship building: cross-functional collaboration and communication (internal and external), stakeholder management, community engagement, CSC representation Grants, reporting, and publications: grant writing, dissemination of project outcomes through conferences and publications, metrics collection and analysis, mid-course and end-of-project reporting Communication: exceptional written and oral communication, presentations, meeting facilitation, using technology to support communication (e.g., Teams, Zoom, SharePoint, email) Other attributes and work style: creative and strategic thinker, detail-oriented, organized, collaborative, self-starter, professional, mission-driven, proactive problem solver, written and spoken Spanish (a plus) TECHNICAL SKILLS: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, required Working knowledge of project management software (e.g., Smartsheet, Asana), preferred Written and spoken Spanish language proficiency, preferred EDUCATION: Master's degree in social science, public health, or related field, required. EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two (2) years of project management experience, preferably in a health education or health communications position, required. Experience in cancer patient and caregiver program development and implementation, a plus. REQUIRED CERTIFICATES/REGISTRATIONS: CITI training certificate, or completion of CITI training within 3 months of hire, required. SALARY AND BENEFITS $52,000 - $60,000. In addition to a competitive base salary, we offer statutory benefits required by law.
