Job Title: Tableau Developer Location: Remote Client: City Colleges of Chicago OVERVIEW City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) is seeking an experienced Tableau Developer consultant to build a comprehensive interactive dashboard for accessing Key Performance Indicators. This "self-service solution" will reduce ad hoc data requests, streamline data access, and enable staff to independently explore critical metrics. The ideal consultant will have advanced Tableau development expertise, strong understanding of higher education data structures, and a user-centered approach to data visualization and design. The developer will be responsible for dashboard development and design. CCC's Decision Support and Business Intelligence teams will provide the underlying data, Tableau license and necessary access. As data-informed decision making is a key strategic priority, this project will contribute to a more efficient and data-driven ecosystem, fostering better outcomes for students and operational excellence across the institution. SCOPE OF WORK The selected consultant will be responsible for: Dashboard Design and Development • Development of approximately 11 tabs in a single dashboard: o 1 Overview page with a scorecard for performance on KPIs for the last 3 - 5 Years o Approximately 10 tabs with a similar layout that include performance across our 10 public Key Performance Indicators. • City Colleges Decision Support team will provide a PowerPoint version of the design to guide the structure and format, but the consultant will be responsible for architecting and developing user-friendly interactive dashboards for centralized data access • Designing intuitive navigation, filters, and customization options for end users • Implementing comprehensive self-service functionality that eliminates routine Decision Support requests about Key Performance Indicators Data Integration and Automation • Connecting dashboards to institutional data systems for real-time or scheduled updates • Implementing automated data refreshes and validation procedures • Establishing proper data governance and security protocols in collaboration with CCC's Data Governance committee and Business Intelligence team. Content Organization • Collaborating with Decision Support to standardize metrics definitions and calculation methodologies • Ensuring consistent data visualization practices across all dashboard components Testing and Continuous Improvement • Conducting usability testing and gathering user feedback • Establishing a maintenance plan for long-term sustainability User Training and Documentation • Developing training materials and guides for end users and administrators Timeline Proposals should include a clear timeline, but we aim to begin this work in early January 2026 and end no later than February 27, 2026 Preferred Qualifications Technical Expertise • Advanced proficiency in Tableau Desktop, Prep and Cloud with demonstrated experience creating interactive dashboards, required • Experience in dashboard development, including interactive features and automated data pipelines • Strong knowledge of higher education data structures and common metrics • Ability to integrate Tableau with institutional data systems and databases including API and SharePoint lists. • Strong background in data visualization best practices and accessibility standards • Proficiency in SQL, ETL processes, and relevant programming languages Collaboration & Communication Skills • Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders across multiple departments • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate user needs into technical solutions • Experience creating clear documentation and training materials • Excellent verbal and written communication skills Preferred Experience & Certifications • Tableau dashboard development experience in a higher education environment • Previous work with community college data systems and metrics • Tableau certifications such as: o Tableau Desktop Certified Professional o Tableau Server Certified Professional o Tableau Data Management Certified
