Deputy Clerk II Collin County Clerk is seeking candidates to fill the position of Deputy Clerk II in our criminal courts section. A Deputy Clerk II is responsible for, but not limited to, maintaining daily court dockets, providing assistance in the courtroom, processing and distributing a variety of documents including warrants, judgments and appeals, and issuing court dates. Work is performed under the direction of Lead Clerk. Primary Functions: Providing positive interaction with the public, judges and staff, and attorneys. Assisting with researching files. Entering case information into the Odyssey case management court system, accurately. Processing daily mail. Collecting and compiling court data. Maintaining electronic court data, accurately, Entering financial information including court costs, fines and fees, Sending required information to the Department of Public Safety for driver's license suspensions. Answering the phones and general questions. Performing other duties as assigned. This position will be expected to perform heavy data entry with a high level of accuracy. The successful candidate will have the ability to provide excellent customer service on the phone and in person to customers and attorneys. Minimum Qualifications: Must have level of education equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency. Must have at least one (1) year of work experience. Must have the ability to pass a typing test with a rate of 50 WPM is required. Must have the ability to pass a criminal background check is required. Work requires strong knowledge of software applications including MS Windows 7 and MS Office 2010 or higher. Must have the ability to perform advanced data entry and scanning functions with strong accuracy and attention to detail, and must have strong customer service skills. Must possess strong organizational and communication skills and demonstrate the ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time. A broad knowledge of legal terminology and documents, and the court system is highly desired. Testing Requirements: This position requires that you pass a typing test at the minimum rate specified above. If you have taken a typing test with us within the last 6 months that meets or exceeds the requirements above, you do not need to take it again. If you have never taken our typing test, have not met the requirements above, or it has been more than 6 months since your last test, you will need to take the test in order for your application to be complete. Typing tests are administered in the Human Resources Testing room from 8:30am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. You do not need an appointment to test, but you will need to bring a government issued photo ID. If you have any questions regarding the testing, please feel free to call 972-548-4606.
