Job Description Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is on the lookout for a highly skilled and hands-on Senior Software Engineer to take the lead in designing, implementing, and optimizing advanced networking solutions for demanding data center environments. In this integral position, you will leverage your expertise in congestion management, transport protocols (TCP, RDMA, and hybrids), real-time telemetry, network security, and reliable systems software to develop efficient, secure, and resilient infrastructure at scale. Responsibilities As a Senior Software Engineer, you will: Design, implement, and enhance transport protocols and congestion controllers across TCP, RDMA, and hybrid transports to ensure high throughput, low latency, and fairness in expansive data center networks. Create and integrate robust telemetry systems for continuous, precise visibility into transport performance, congestion levels, and overall network health. Contribute to the reliability, performance, and operational excellence of congestion management, telemetry, and security components within OCI. Develop algorithmic solutions to optimize transport and congestion control at both the host and switch levels, ensuring comprehensive interaction among protocols and infrastructure. Employ advanced diagnostic tools to analyze protocol behavior, buffer utilization, and network bottlenecks, implementing effective corrective measures at scale. Validate and deploy new features across OCI’s large-scale deployments, closely collaborating with hardware, host networking, telemetry, and SRE teams. Share insights, review designs, and advocate for best practices in telemetry, security, and transport optimization across the engineering teams. Engage in continuous learning to stay updated with developments in network transport, telemetry, security, and data center networking, applying new techniques for improvement. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with a focus on computer networks, distributed systems, or security. 5+ years of experience designing and delivering production-grade transport protocol controllers (TCP, RDMA, RTTCC, DCQCN, TIMELY, etc.) at a data center scale. Strong expertise in congestion control (loss/delay/hybrid), buffer management, telemetry systems, and large-scale data center networking principles. Demonstrated experience with network or transport-layer features and best practices. Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Go, or Rust, alongside experience with modern network monitoring and diagnostic tools. Proven ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and enhance network performance at scale. Excellent collaboration and communication abilities, capable of effectively engaging with engineering peers and cross-functional teams. Track record of applying theoretical knowledge to solve practical challenges in effective and realistic ways. Join our OCI Networking team and be part of engineering the next generation of transport solutions.
