Materials Purchasing Agent The Materials Purchasing Agent is responsible for forecasting material needs, managing vendor relationships, issuing purchase orders, and ensuring materials are available to support production and sales. This role serves as the analytical and planning hub between Operations, Production, Accounts Payable, and the Warehouse team. Purchasing accuracy depends on clean ERP data and close collaboration with the Warehouse Supervisor. Essential Functions - Analyze historical usage, production plans, and sales pacing to anticipate material requirements. - Translate inventory levels and operational demand into accurate purchase orders. - Maintain purchasing calendars and adjust plans based on seasonality and demand changes. - Maintain strong communication with vendors regarding lead times, pricing, availability, and shipment status. - Resolve delivery discrepancies, shortages, damages, or documentation issues in coordination with the Warehouse Supervisor. - Ensure vendor statements and invoices remain in good standing through alignment with Accounts Payable. - Review inventory balances, cycle count results, and adjustments provided by Warehouse. - Validate ERP data accuracy prior to issuing purchase orders. - Support material allocation decisions to prevent shortages or overages. - Communicate material risks, shortages, and timing concerns to Production and Sales. - Coordinate with Accounts Payable to support 3-way matching and invoice resolution. - Partner with Warehouse leadership to ensure purchasing decisions are based on reliable data. - Use Power BI dashboards to review inventory levels, consumption trends, vendor performance, and forecast accuracy. - Interpret and apply insights from Power BI reports to support purchasing and planning decisions. - Work with the internal Data Team to define reporting requirements and identify data needed to support operations, production, and sales. - Perform Excel based analysis (pivots, filters, lookups) to support purchasing decisions. Requirements - Experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain (2+ years preferred). - Strong analytical and problem solving skills. - Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. - Ability to navigate and use Power BI reports and dashboards (report design not required). - Experience working with ERP systems in a purchasing or inventory environment. - Strong communication and vendor relationship skills. - Driver's license may be required.
